Services
Kimberley Himmelberg, Principal at Kimberley Himmelberg Appraisal Associates, LLC has been involved in the Fine and Decorative Arts for over 16 years. During this time she has provided appraisal services for attorneys, collectors, museums, insurance companies, estate planners and asset managers. Her appraisal duties include reviewing, documenting, researching and valuing Fine and Decorative Art.
What is the process to obtain an appraisal? Each appraisal scenario is different. Typically the appraiser and client will determine the purpose of the appraisal and what items will be appraised. Next the appraiser will inspect the work first hand, documenting attributes, condition and photographing each piece for the final report.
The art world can seem and often times be daunting. There are so many different areas of collecting and almost as many venues for acquiring work. As an advisory firm we strive to make collecting interesting and satisfying. Whether you are seasoned collector adding to a refined specific body of work or a new collector looking for exposure to as many areas of collecting as possible, honing in on work you are passionate about.
Our artwork and antiques hold meanings both personal and financial. Over time with either purchases or inheritance collections can become disorganized. Stories, paperwork, and unfortunately pieces themselves can be lost or misplaced with the business of life. Having your valuables and their provenance accounted for will simplify life as well as making it easier to account for what you would like to add or downsize from your collection.
For those wanting information on their pieces but not an official appraisal, a professional opinion of value is an option. This service is provided online and is not an appraisal. It is not legally binding, it is meant for reference only and cannot be used for legal matters or insurance. The P.O.V. will come in pdf format and will include a catalogue description of the work, a value range and what comparable works have sold for recently.
