Originally from the High Plains region of Kansas, I have traveled extensively across the United States as well as several foreign countries. I eventually settled back in Kansas, receiving a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Kansas State University. Over time, I have worked with architects and engineers across Kansas, Colorado, Minnesota, and the Cape Cod region of Massachusetts.

When time permits, I am actively gardening, browsing weekend art festivals, or working on my Writer's Retreat in western Kansas. With that, I enjoy the personal relationships gained through a shared experience of a garden on the Great Plains. Despite the harsh realities of Mother Nature in our region, it certainly is a great place to call home.
Services
Ready to change your landscape but unsure where to start? I can assist in the creation of a Master Plan. Basic design services are perfect for small projects, or those capable of installing their own work. Correctly depicting an image of a structure or landscape goes beyond a series of lines and color tones.
Working closely with the Builder, we crafted a landscape masterplan that has been culturally articulated with a strong appreciation to its American heritage. The front facade remains open and welcoming to guests. The constant stream of locals passing by are forever welcomed with a changing variety of seasonal arrangements, both at the sidewalk and at the home.
An Arts & Crafts home shares an organic relationship with the microclimates they are found. The masterplan speaks to (and organizes) that relationship. The new design features a planting scheme utilizing a mixture of native plants, edible plants, and strong border colors. A large vegetable garden, with a fruit tree outcrop, provides space for providing plenty of organics for the family.
Visitors are welcomed with a potted floral arrangement and a potpourri of blooming shrubs. On the rear terrace, distant views are aligned with the massing of both deciduous and evergreen trees. The fall colors were coordinated to occur in unison with the background shrubbery. A generous rear terrace joins with the kitchen garden to the west and an equally massed sunporch addition to the east.
This 160 acre weekend retreat and hunting preserve is located in rural southern Missouri. The client requested a low maintenance landscape comprised of all plants indigenous to Missouri. An enhanced native prairie aesthetic was employed throughout the acreage creating an appropriate sense of permanency.
