Located 30 miles southeast of Durango and 45 miles southwest of Pagosa Springs as part of an 910 acre livestock farm, in a stunning Colorado setting. Five generations of the Jones, Parry and Payne families have now lived on the family farm and ranch lands.

The air up there can be a challenge for grape growers, but these extremes can produce memorable wines. In 2004, he and his wife, Linda, made the decision to plant Riesling, Merlot and Pinot Noir across four hectares of their farm in Ignacio, Colorado. Only Riesling survived that first harsh winter, as temperatures often dropped below 0F.

We are located 25 miles southeast of Durango and 40 miles southwest of Pagosa Springs as part of a 910 acre livestock farm, in a stunning Colorado setting.
Fox Fire Winery won both Best of Show and Triple Gold for their 2012 Marquette at the Colorado State Fair. The winery also received a silver medal for their Traminette. According to Richard Parry, the owner of the Ignacio (Durango), Colorado winery, these were the only two hybrids entered in the Colorado State Fair competition.
Taste: touch of residual sugar, fruity, ripe pears, apple, Overview: medium acidity, medium finish, very nice German style Riesling with a trace of sweetness. Summer Riesling has a bright acidity, off-dry. Overview: Derived from Gewrztraminer only better, a very fragrant wine with a touch of residual sugar.
Fox Fire Farms is home to wines of distinction. We are the only commercial vineyard and winery in the Durango and Pagosa Springs area. We have had success growing white Riesling grapes and cold climate hybrids. Our cold climate vineyard features varieties like Marquette, Corot Noir, Traminette, Brianna, Petite Pearl and Vignoles.
