Beverly location staff are consistent--consistently rude, unhelpful and unknowledgeable. This is an overpriced boutique for people who don't care about gardening or gardeners. I've given them more chances that I should have-- was eager to support a new local business. Go to Growers Outlet at 79th and western for annuals and County Fair for better priced and better looking pre-made baskets.

I went to City Grange searching for cuban oregano but found a lovely verillionaire Cuphea hybrid Large Firecracker Plant. A worker stated that this plant is great and would attract hummingbirds. To my amazement this morning a beautiful iridescent green hummingbird drank nectar from almost every blooming fire cracker. Thank you for this wonderful plant, great advice and heartfelt sighting.

Small but nice selection of plants. I heard other customers get asked if they needed help getting merchandise to their car, and they seemed helpful and solicitous. I decided to buy some plants because although I had surgery 2 weeks ago and could hardly push the cart around, I thought I would be well taken care of. But when I got my dozen plants, I waited well over 5 minutes for someone to approach the cash register, and then summarily handed 2 boxes for my plants. I guess my $100 purchase wasn't enough to warrant any offer of assistance.

Beautiful garden center. I went in with just a sense of where I wanted plants for my porch and the amazing crew helped pick out flowers and veggies to match the sun and space I had plus a great selection of medium to large sized containers for growing vegetables without a garden. Really beautiful plants in great condition and appreciated the push carts!

Went to City Grange for the first time today and it was such a great experience! I had been curious about their houseplant selection in particular, and was happy to find a well curated and cared for selection of both common and rarer species. They also had a really nice selection of pots and other supplies! Prices were very reasonable and I ended up getting a (multi-leaf) variegated hoya kerrii that I’m super excited about for a much lower price than I’ve seen them sold for elsewhere. Staff were super friendly and helpful as well!! I will definitely be coming back!

Wonderful morning spent at City Grange. Everything is wonderfully curated by master gardeners - fresh, native, healthy, organic plants. (Many varieties that we've never seen before!) Beautiful fresh cut flowers and containers that will make you an Easter hero if you can bring your self to share vs. keep. Inside there are gardening tools, seeds, soil mixes, bee homes, gifties and more. We loved it!

Passed by and decided to stop. I am thrilled I did so! Wonderful staff who took the time to chat with me, discussing what garden set up I had, how much soil to get, what plants would be best etc. Genuine *community* feel which is a great place to support. My daughter enjoyed playing with one staff's daughter and became fast buddies. Plan to go again for our summer plants. Bought salad and edible flowers today and managed to plant them all and set up garden bed for next Thursday's plant acquisition. Great quality and selection of diff plants. Very impressed!!!!

I really wanted to like it and support a local small business. However, on our visit we were disappointed. Apparently, the owner was out of town and maybe that's why the staff didn't really seem to care about helping us. At least 5 times I had to walk around and see if I could find an employee to answer a question. One girl was almost hiding on her phone and gave me a look. I found other employees around the register laughing inside. One of them gave me a price list instead of coming outside to help me.
The prices are more expensive and I get much better service at another big gardening

I would like to be positive because this place is in the neighborhood, but I think it has a few issues. First off there is only street parking, which is very limited. Since plants are not grown on site, but need to be trucked in from Wisconsin, sometimes they are not available. The selection of seeds is also very limited and they only carry the most expensive brand. Staff is sometimes not clear where certain plants are located on the lot. I also have to say I do not care to donate to the local community garden and I wish they would stop soliciting for it at the register. After a three trips to

City Grange is a new garden shop - plants, flowers, seeds, and supplies, in Lincoln Square on Western. They recently opened and are pretty well stocked for a new, independent shop. City Grange was started by the people who started the Peterson Garden Project in Chicago - they are very knowledgeable and helpful.
They are set up so it is easy to find plants that go together. If you are just starting to garden or are a novice, you don't have to study before going (although it's usually a good idea to know what you want first). But, they also are readily available to help you make your selections

City Grange garden center and plant store is new to the Lincoln Square area. They have fair pricing, knowledgeable staff and a wide variety of local organic plants, herbs, gardening supplies, containers, planters, aphid remedies, and garden gnomes. If you are new to gardening, this is a great place to start. My guess is this will be a big place for restaurant supply as well since the diverse offerings of fresh herbs is hard to come by in the city of Chicago.
