In every exam, we assess your uncorrected and best visual acuity, refractive state (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, or presbyopia), binocular vision, and ocular health.
Dr. Derelyne Gandia O.D. graduated from UC-Santa Barbara with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and received her Doctorate in Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry. She has specialized clinical experiences in optometric vision therapy, pediatric exams, ocular disease and diabetic management.

Looked for a new eye doctor after a bad experience with a previous doctor I had been going to for years. After my first visit, I left wishing I had come to garden island eye care years ago. Dr. is great, and explained everything she was doing, unlike my previous doctor. The staff there is so friendly. I actually feel excited to go back for my yearly check ups.

Dr Gandia performed an outstanding exam of my somewhat complex eyes and created the best, most accurate prescription I have ever had. I have had a very difficult time getting a great prescription over the past few decades, and as a result I’ve had some difficulties with my progressive lenses performing well, until now. I’m so incredibly happy with my new prescription and the lenses that I had created through Dr Gandia’s office, I had to tell you all about it.
