Dr. Kim and the 16th Street Dental team offer our Yuma patients a variety of quality dental examination options based on your personal situation. Do your gums bleed when you brush or floss your teeth? If they do, you should schedule a teeth cleaning appointment immediately. And if your teeth and gums appear to be in perfect health, you should still have your teeth professionally cleaned regularly, even if you brush and floss every day. Gingivitis is the medical term for early gum disease, or periodontal disease.
A cavity is decay of a tooth caused by bacteria that are present in the mouth. The bacteria feed on the sugars and starches in our diet and form sticky plaque to attach to the tooth. The plaque also serves to capture food particles for the growing bacterial infection. The byproducts of the bacteria are acidic and cause the minerals in the teeth to dissolve and weaken the enamel structure.

I was in Yuma on business and one of my front tooth crowns broke off and went flying across the room. I called 4 or 5 local dentists and there was nothing available for a month or better. One of the other dentists told me to call 16th Street Dental. When I called the receptionist told Dr. Kim my situation and he agreed to see me the next morning. After the examination it was determined the anchor holding the crown in was cracked and re-bonding the original crown would not last long. I was scheduled to fly out the next day and Dr. Kim offered to stay late after hours to make and fit a new one. I

OMG, thank you Doctor Kim. Your kindness will come back to you 10 folds. It was 10pm and out of nowhere my wife had extreme pain. Won't get into everything that was wrong but, she needed her tooth pulled. Right away he returned our phone call and met us at his office. He was gentle, kind, understanding and patient with my wife. He wasted no time in meeting us and worked quickly to get her out of pain. Thank you so much.

Dr Kim and his staff are the nicest people. Dr. Kim has always been nice to me and he is just a good decent man who does excellent dental work. His staff also does great work. I hope we live a long time in Yuma so I will always have a good dentist to go to. My wife and I are grateful to have him as a dentist.

Finally, a detail cleaning. I was very happy with how much time and effort was put into caring for my teeth and gums. Dr. Kim is wonderful he was able to work on my damaged nerve endings and fix my teeth without so much pain. He takes his time and checks to make sure he has it done right the first time. He also gives you the facts and helps you make the choice that is right for you. The office staff is wonderful and just makes you feel welcome. I want to give this office 10 stars!! They are wonderful. My search for an awesome dentist in Yuma is over. Dr. Kim and his staff have met all my stringent criteria. The parking area is easy to get into and out of, with spaces large enough to park in. The waiting room is very clean, even the corners. The receptionist greets you when you walk in. I was called back by cheerful assistants, at my appointment time. Only once did I have to wait past my appointment time, and that was only 5 minutes. The treatment area is well set up. The room is large enough that I didn't feel claustrophobic. The Dr.

I've only lived in Yuma a short time but have been to three dentists; I won't be going to another one. Dr. Schmidt and his team have been wonderful to work with. One of my favorite things about Dr. Schmidt is that he takes time to discuss what he's doing and why it's important. He makes sure to address my questions/concerns in a way that is NOT condescending, which is something I've experienced in other dental offices. Dr. Schmidt and his staff are professional, yet friendly and it feels good to be in their office.
