Chuck Mathena Center
In the spring of 1992, the Mathena family and Princeton community lost a remarkable young man. Charles T. "Chuck" Mathena II was the only son to Charlie and Marquetta Mathena, and an avid performing arts participant and supporter. Through this tragedy, the Charles T. "Chuck" Mathena II Foundation was formed, with the original intent of offering assistance to high school students pursuing higher education.

Over the years, the need for a performing arts venue in southern West Virginia became more evident, and with the support of the entire community and state, the dream of the Chuck Mathena Center became a reality. With a nearly 1,000 seat theatre, state-of-the-art audio and visual capabilities, and stunning architecture, CMC is a one of a kind experience in southern West Virginia.
Services
Classes will be held on Wednesdays During the day in our sunlit and airy Grand Hall and Rotunda. Registration deadline is the Friday before class starts unless otherwise indicated on class listing. Theatre patrons spend an estimated $4.6 million in art venue communites throughout West Virginia each year. Visual and performing arts are fundamental to our humanity - they enable, inspire and foster creativity, celebrate beauty and diversity, and express our values.

They also create a multitude of business opportunities, allowing our business to have distraction-free access to a diverse group of potential customers for investments as low as pennies per person!
The Charles T. "Chuck" Mathena II Foundation was established as the result of a great tragedy. After the untimely passing of Chuck Mathena in 1992, the foundation was formed to aid educational and extra-curricular opportunities for the students of Mercer County, West Virginia. To date, deserving students have received nearly $300,000 in scholarship funds, enabling them to pursue their educational interests.
The Chuck Mathena Center is located right off of Stafford Drive in downtown Princeton, WV. You will find a wide selection of dining, lodging and shopping within minutes of CMC, most of them being right at Exit 9 off I-77. Always neat and clean. Accessibility is great even for the disabled. Our event was held outside in the parking lot. There were no chairs set up for the public (community) who were there for a high school choir performance. Everyone had to bring their own chairs or stand.

Truly a Wonderful resource and attraction for the community and its citizens. One of the classiest and beautifully constructed buildings you will ever find and truly is equipped to provide world class music and entertainment events. It is absolutely magical to watch a play there, as you feel like you are immersed in the play.
