Kimber Martial Arts was founded in 1994 by Kimber Hill Tyree in DeLand, FL under the corporate name of Modern Martial Arts Academy, Inc. Kimber Martial Arts exists to empower you to Master Your Life through martial arts training. This is evident in their vast offerings, commitment to serving their community and success in training students to be leaders both on and off the mat.
Our amazing Preschool Toddler and Me Program is now offering in-person classes here in DeLand! Boosts your child's focus, respect, confidence, and social skills. Martial arts is not just martial arts. It's a tool we use to help kids become leaders. Hundreds of parents from DeLand, Deltona and Orange City can't believe the incredible transformation.
Our Samurai Program is designed to instill the benefits of martial arts training combined with everyday skills for those with special needs. The adaptive lesson plans have a focus on bringing our community together and making new friends as well as building more balance, coordination, discipline, respect, confidence, and self-esteem.
It's not just a workout - it's a life-saving skill. Learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones, even if an attacker is bigger and stronger than you. People all over DeLand, Orange City and Deltona turn to us for their Self-Defense training. As a father I am very proud to see the quality of young adults this school seems to produce.
My family has been training at this school in some format for almost 10 years. My sons have literally grown up here, starting as Lil Dragons, attending the after school, summer camp, having birthday parties! I've been with Kimber for 13 years. Both my children have received black belts through her training and I feel more confident having put both my children into martial arts so they can defend themselves.

We are thrilled to be a part of Kimber Martial Arts as it is such a warm and positive environment! My daughter loves being a Little Dragon and looks forward to her classes twice a week. As a parent, it’s such a blessing to see my daughter grow each week in both skill and self-confidence. I also appreciate how the instructors recognize each student individually and celebrate their victories, are teaching the kids important life lessons and behaviors (respect, kindness, etc.) and create such an engaging environment for the kids to learn and grow. I attend Kimber and is it so awesome. I have not even been here for a full year and I love it. Everyone is really nice and they really care about the kids. They are always down to help you if you need it. They teach you do much in just one class. And never fail to make me laugh and smile even when I'm upset. And they take time to get close to everyone. I recommend.

Both of our children attend Kimber Martial Arts as part of their after-school program, will/have attended summer programs, and our son has gone a step further and takes Karate instruction under Sensei Steve. Sensei Steve is wonderful with his instruction both of the physical aspects of Karate but also helps his students develop mental fortitude and discipline. Ms Jess is a great camp director and Ms Teresa is on top of keeping us well-informed of everything going on. Every employee is a pleasure to talk to and very friendly and professional. Kimber Martial Arts is a very positive social and physical activity for my great grandson and the other children in the Lil Dragon age group 4-5. The instructor is always fully engaged and insist the children follow safety protocols as they exercise, interact with each other and the appropriate training equipment for their age group. The children are taught personal safety, outside class activities that are used to reinforce the concepts taught during class. The instructor exercises great patience with the each age group.

This has been a life-changing experience for my son. He loves karate, and looks forward to attending classes here twice a week. He sets goals, and tells me that he is on a quest to be his best. My grandson has attended Kimber Martial Arts for 8 years. They have always been very professional but also very family oriented. They are very willing to work with you or your child to make sure everyone is getting the best experience possible. Sensei Steve is the best instructor, he is patient with all the kids from young to young adult. He teaches so the kids want to learn and I know my grandson looks up to him as a role model and respects him as his instructor. Kimber Martial Arts has been the best place we could have picked for our grandson to attend.

The staff at Kimber Martial Arts are among some of the best people I have had to honor of meeting. Each person is invested in their students and their students growth. They are always supportive and understanding when it come to training no matter your age! I started only a few weeks ago and from the moment my son and I walked in the door, we felt like part of a family.
