We aim to treat and heal what is perpetuating the need to use disordered behavior instead of trying to "stop" or "redirect" the behavior itself. It will look pretty different from talk therapy. Our sessions take time and space to create safety in your nervous system through a variety of specialized grounding techniques.
These techniques will allow you to stay embodied as you process the roots of what is driving the behavior. We view these roots as traumatic events, many of them attachment related (like from childhood relationships with our caregivers). Many people go in and out of recovery because the symptoms are treated, not what is causing them.

Services
I'm Alison Papion LMFT, the founder of BRAVE Counseling & Consulting - A Family Counseling Corporation, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Thousand Oaks and Berkeley, CA - here to guide you through life's most complex and difficult matters. Since 2004, I have provided a number of specialized therapeutic services to those coping with major trauma and other challenging life experiences.
We are trained in the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), a trauma-processing modality that includes a sophisticated scaffolding of resourcing. This helps allow us to explore material that is the most painful while providing enough brain-body safety to make it seem manageable and tolerable.
The overall goal of this model is to increase the connection to self, to our highest selves, parts of ourselves we may not understand, and to self in the presence of others. In our first sessions together, we may be providing education on both this model and the nervous system so that you have a solid understanding of what it is we will be doing together (if we determine this modality is right for you).

Alison is the most amazing therapist she has helped my children find their voice and their inner strength. We [can't] do it without her. Alison's approach is refreshing and connective, and for the first time, I feel I'm really seen and understood. I have lifelong PTSD, and Alison has been a real resource for me to cope and resolve my past trauma.

I have been seeing Alison Papion for over a year and a half. CRM Therapy has helped me with anxiety, depression and past trauma I wasn't aware of. It's changed my life for the better. It requires a lot of patience and an open mind but is well well worth it. I have tried other outlets and therapist that never seemed to work but I found success here. The office always feels very warm, welcoming, comfortable and most importantly safe. They always make the space comfortable for you. They also offer Online Sessions which become very helpful in times where there isn't a chance to make it to the office

It is such a comfort to have access to therapy online, especially during this unprecedented and frightening time in America. Alison Papion is so knowledgeable and easy to connect with and has had a very comforting and calming effect on me when I need it most. I highly recommend Brave Counseling and Consulting for any therapy needs.

I highly recommend Brave Counseling and their CRM therapy. This is not endless talk therapy. I went through so much with the loss of my husband to pancreatic cancer. He was gone only 17 weeks after he was diagnosed. He was only 58. And then, my mother and then my father, all 3 within 25 months. I was left alone and traumatized. Alison, of Brave, helped me work through it all. I will be forever grateful I found her.
