Don has been an inspector here at Homecheck for over 20 years and is a member of the Maryland Association of Home Inspections. Don is in charge of reviewing all Home Quality Standards inspections. He is also partner with the owner, Michele Smith, forming our Environmental Testing portion of Home Check.
Below is a list of the most common reasons a unit fails Housing Quality Standards (HQS) during Baltimore City Landlord Rental Inpections. You'll want to look over your unit carefully before the inspector comes out as Baltimore City will be unable to enter into contract with units that fail HQS inspection.

We are most often employed by landlords and property manager to ensure their compliance with Maryland lead paint laws, because it is required that landlords in Maryland have valid lead paint certificates for their properties.

Michele and her husband have a great business. I reached out to Michele about lead testing and answered all of my questions promptly and with great detail to help me decide between limited lead and lead free testing. Once her husband arrived for the testing he performed the rental inspection and lead inspection promptly, professionally, and addressed any questions I had as well. There was a slight delay (a few days) of getting the paperwork to me after the quoted time but the quality was good and guidance was top notch. I would use them again.

I contacted Home check inspections on a Friday late afternoon and Michelle called me back the next morning. She was knowledgeable, friendly and gave me a good price on two properties I needed to get inspected because I was considering purchasing them as investment properties. Through all the stresses of home buying (first time), using Home Check Inspections for our home inspection was one of the few stress relievers. Seriously. They were very thorough, and issued their very detailed report for our use - the next day. Not only that, but they were very responsive to our questions, and were very helpful in understanding not only what issues were present at our - new - 100-year old house, but how to properly maintain just about every area of our new home. To top it off, they were very affordable! I recommend them without reservation if you are performing a home inspection
