Two basted eggs on top of a toasted English muffin with either thinly sliced ham, turkey, or a sausage patty. Topped with hollandaise sauce. Choose 1 meat: ham, ground sausage, or chorizo sausage, scrambled in 2 eggs, green pepper, and onion. Do not recommend!!! I love supporting small businesses but I would not go here again. Last year my husband and I got yelled at by the owner for another person walking up to the buffet when the limit was 2 people. We did nothing wrong but were told that we were the reason he had to shutdown his restaurant. Very rude. The food was mediocre. Despite having this horrible experience, I decided to give it another shot. Once again, I was very disappointed. The food was overpriced and once again mediocre. I also saw that they charge $1 if you need an extra plate and $3.99 for a side of sausage gravy!!

I've been in the area for work a few different times this summer and have eaten here a couple times now. I got the walleye sandwich and a bourbon burger. Both were delicious! The walleye was cooked well and very crispy. The burger was very messy, get extra napkins, but very good. The bourbon glaze and sautéed onions were great. I added pepper jack cheese as well. Very friendly staff with great service during both visits! I love supporting local places!

Fantastic setting, clean and tidy, not overly decorated....I had such a wonderful experience here meeting local regulars and enjoying the atmosphere. I recommend sitting at the counter. The vibe there was so welcoming and comfortable despite the busy restaurant behind me. My Everything Omelette had EVERYTHING in it, was cooked perfectly, and came out hot and fresh. Stop in for the breakfast buffet on the weekends or any other time and help root for the Lake Cafe Stingers or just for some great chow and genuine service, you won't leave dissatisfied!

My husband and I just moved to Big Lake and love going out for breakfast on Sunday mornings. The Lake Cafe has a great small town feel. The owner was even going to peoples tables and sitting down and talking with them! We got seated right away, our food didn't take long and regardless of how busy they were, we were not rushed out. The food is amazing!! WARNING you will eat too much!

I spoke to owner about no fresh vegetables. He doesn't have fresh veggies, i.e., mushrooms for omelets, and they don't put the cheese "in" the omelets but on top. Who does that? Also, when you ask for lemon water, owner provides artificial packets of lemon. What "real" restaurant does that. He stated I've been in business for like 50 years, well, Lake Cafe, Big Lake, MN is the only breakfast restaurant in Big Lake so that's why. Duh. Make it better "owner" please. If you don't know what to do, watch some videos, YouTube, etc. Make

I've come here both for breakfast and lunch. I much prefer their breakfast. My lunch was good. Don't get me wrong. I got the chicken strip basket. The fries were really plain. I don't even really think that they were salted not the worst thing ever. The chicken strips were really good but weird parts of it would have chewy/hard spots that I believe was just fat from the meat but it was a bit annoying eating around it.

There are only TWO waitresses working here today and the restaurant is about 4/5 full!! BAD form! Management should know better. My mom's order was brought in groups, not the full order. So, for example, they bought eggs w/meat & we got the hashbrowns 15---- NO joke!!--- minutes later. Then, toast came out after that & it was burnt. Then, about 10 min later, my food came out. I ordered a menu item. Simple chicken strip basket. I had to get up & get a different waitress (the only other one in the building) & let her know I hadn't gotten the dips with my basket, nor salsa

We were looking for a non-chain, café where we could get a good breakfast at a reasonable price. Lake Café did not disappoint! From the quality of the food, the professionalism of our server- all was good! Breakfast Buffet was good with nothing being over the heat too long. Omelet was tasty with fresh veggies and coffee was the way it should be for an early morning breakfast (strong and as much as you could handle). Facilities were clean and the tables were bussed in a timely manner. If you are cruising down Highway 10 and go through Big Lake, give the Lake Café a try!

This is a decent Minnesota-style restaurant in Big Lake, popular especially among senior citizens wearing hunting jackets. Food was about what you'd expect for a Minnesota Mom-and-pop (quarter-pounder with bacon for me, hot beef sandwich for Dad), but my burger was oddly malformed - points deducted on presentation. They have plenty of wholesome MidWest food if that's what your looking for.

Hubby and I thought we were being smart by heading to the Lake Cafe for their $14 Thanksgiving buffet. Neither of us felt like cooking or doing dishes and our original plans were delayed. Turns out, a frozen pizza would have been a better option.
The gravy was extremely salty, which I didn't know until I drenched my food in it. But since the mashed potatoes were bland, they almost balanced out. The stuffing was inedible. I usually don't write reviews unless I get exceptional service or horrible service. A friend of mine and I went here yesterday. Service was not that great. Our server did not smile once, and im not over exaggerating when I say this. The one good thing she did though was bring me a refill on pop without me asking. Didn't ask how our food was. We would say thank you and she didn't say you're welcome. She just didn't seem happy to serve us.
