Rooster's Market
Doug bought the business from Gristedes in 1993 and ran it as "Gedney Way Market" until early '98. He sold the store to Chuck Hill, and was hired as general manager from 1998-2003. In 2003, Doug and Nello bought the business together. In 2014 Doug stayed on to be Willy's partner and in 2017 sold his shares to Willy.

After more than 30 years in the business Doug's knowledge is invaluable and is why he has stayed on to run the business as General Manager, continuing traditions to keep our business family style. Willy began his journey with Roosters as an ice cream scooper and stock boy at 12 years old. After studying General Management and Finance, he left college early to pursue this dream, and since then acquired full ownership of the market.
Services
Almost 15 years ago at the beggining of Rooster's Market, Chuck Hill the original owner was able to acquire one of our great employees known as Franky. He is our Master Butcher, crafting his art for over 40 years. A true calabrese who had a clever in his hand by the age of 4. We are fortunate to have him on our team especially due to the misfortune that the Butcher craft is not as common and easy to find as once before.
At Rooster's Market we try to provide the most possibilities for everyone's enjoyment, including vegetarian options in both our lunch and catering menus. We like to say that "quality products take quality time and a little TLC." Please let us know if there is something not on our menus that you would like and we would be happy to accomodate if possible.

I've been in White Plains for about a year and still had not found my go to place for a breakfast/lunch sandwich. I found this place and decided to give it a try and I was not disappointed! They have a ton of options for breakfast and lunch, plus the place is a grocery store so you can get other things as well as a made to order meal. I got the ultimate bomb sandwich and it was incredible - highly recommend!

I agree with the one star reviews. Staff could be more friendly and welcoming.
It probably explains why I come less often . Why should I support this business and spend my money when they don’t seem to show satisfying customer service ? Wear a smile. Small talk. Notice the customer. Please the customer . Leave your personal issues at home and don’t wear your unhappiness and misery in the store .

This is the absolute BEST place to go if u have an hour to wait for a sandwich. The food is great. Good vibe, but the staff is just there to hang out. If you're in a rush, go somewhere else.

I am not from the White Plains area but my friend who is, suggested we tried out this sandwich place for breakfast!

At first you walk in and it gives the vibe of an old time grocery store; then we walked all the way to the back for the deli counter and there is where we ordered our sandwiches.

They had multiple menus for specialty sandwiches or cold pastas or breakfast, but we wanted to create our own. We waited for 5min to order and another 5 for our sandwiches to be finished.

The sandwiches were so fresh and you can taste it in the ingredients! Definitely will come back the next time I

Sandwiches are consistent and one of the few delis that actually give chicken cutlets not chicken tenders in the sandwiches. Fair prices, can’t complain.

I've lived in this community for 20 years and I'm thankful for this place.

It's an old school neighborhood grocery and deli. If you really wanted to be healthy you'd just get your daily meals here walking from your house.

First I get to see my friends when I get coffee. It's good coffee. Why go to Starbucks?

The hot food is excellent. But the sandwiches are superb. I get the Italian, The Godfather, and the balboa.

It gets busy around lunch because everyone knows it's quality.

The parking can be annoying.

Also the butcher? They can get meat for you when you

Ive lived in this neighborhood for years
and Roosters Market is the go to deli,
the food is great and it's very convenient. However a few members of the staff can often be rude, they need to
step up their game on customer service,
People spend their money there.

Rooster’s Market has been open every day since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic. While other supermarkets closed and restocked, Rooster’s managed to stay open providing for their customers a safer place to shop for groceries. When I visited there was a masked security guard in front, making sure that only a limited amount of customers were allowed inside the store at any time. Roosters is a great little supermarket and has wonderful takeout as well as fresh produce, delicious coffee and all your grocery needs

Roosters is the best! We go there at least once if not twice a week. They have the best Deli and Deli Staff . You can get milk, cheese, cold drinks, coffee in the front, house hold items. They have frozen items. I think they are like the show “Cheers”. You feel like they know you cause they do. Frank is our butcher and we just got our Thanksgiving Turkey from him. We always get great meats and chicken. He’s the best!
We love Roosters!

Perfect go-to for last minute groceries and fresh deli items. Meat is great too. Love the small town feel I get when I'm in there since I'm from the back country down south... reminds me I'm home despite living in a city with 3/4 million people!

Roosters is a nice place to stop in for lunch. . The menu is large and they have daily specials throughout the week. Inside they have a lot more than food, selling paper goods, cooking supplies and other household needs. Downfall is that most likely it is not within walking distance from your white plains office.

Came into town for a family function, I wasn't too thrilled about paying $60 for 'continental breakfast' for my family of 4 at the Crowne Plaza we were staying at. Quick yelp landed me here. So good.

It's definitely old school. So old school they wrote our credit card number down on a pad to process later. Day1 we came in the a.m....learned to grab a bagel from up front.....then head back to order some bagel egg and cheese sandwiches (gotta have a NY bagel right?). Awesome. Day2 before we headed to the airport we did a repeat of Day1 with the bagel sandwich, but

My favorite local deli.
It can get packed here during peak times (730-9am, and 1130a-130p), but worth it.
Sandwiches are great.

My go-to breakfast sandwich is the (secret menu) super egg white roo SPKHS, which is 2 egg whites, cheese, bacon, hash brown on a roll..with Salt, Pepper, Ketchup, and Hot Sauce.

For lunch, the Noche and I add hot peppers.

The lunch sandwiches esp are a steal at ~$8 for a packed sandwich.

They also have a mini supermarket for miscellaneous items, and also a really good butcher.

Only minor gripes I have are:
-If you just want a bagel, you have to go pick out your bagel

I've only been once, so can I truly say five? I'm game, 74 of you also said it was five worthy.

I had a chicken parm, it was pretty good. the sauce wasnt to acidic, the cheese and chicken were very good, the roll had poppy seeds, there goes my trip to singapore. jk

anyway, i would go back, seriously, if a co worker didnt tell me i needed to try this place out, i wouldnt be writing this, so play it forward!

AMAZING hole in the wall deli. I got the nooster (?) or number 2 on the specialty sandwich menu. Chicken cutlet, prosciutto, provolone, roasted peppers, and balsamic. $7.99 for the wedge, which literally weighed 1+ pound and looked like a giant baby. I could easily split it in half and save the second for my next meal. Delicious, fast, and friendly service! Will definitely be returning.
