It can be overwhelming to think about filing bankruptcy. Where do you start? What is the process like? How long will it take? One of the scariest things after bankruptcy can be applying for new credit. You might think you will be denied or wary because that may be what got you into bankruptcy in the first place. However, having open accounts can help improve your credit, and do it faster than living on an all-cash basis. So, what should you do?
After discharge, it is time to check and start monitoring your credit score. Reviewing your report 60-90 days after discharge gives your creditors time to update their reporting and give you your credit score. A good credit score will save you money in interest, insurance rates, and even affect your employment.
