Welcome to Madsen Family Cellars, a boutique winery offering the highest quality Washington wines. We proudly pour fifteen award-winning wines, more or less depending on weather fluctuations and availability of grapes from year to year. All grapes come handpicked from Washington vineyards chosen for their unique flavor profiles.

Our wines have won numerous awards in local and national contests starting with our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, and have earned several 90+ scores from Wine Advocate in 2010 and 2011. Our wines excel because we use the best grapes, sourced from sought-after locations like the Wahluke Slope, Red Mountain, North Pasco, Prosser, Horse Heaven Hills, and Rattlesnake Hills.
Services
After making wine in 5 gallon carboys in the garage for a while my wife San and I spent a weekend in Oregon Wine Country touring and tasting. On our way home we looked across the car at each other and said "you know, we could do that." And so the dream was kindled. We did a good deal of planning, made several excursions to Eastern Washington, and talked to as many winemakers as we could get to stand still and talk with us.
Cost per person is $45, but I have a discount code you can use when you sign up that brings the price down to around $30, I believe, and that code is Seattle27. You make reservations through the Paint Nite website, not ours. In addition, your reservation includes your choice of two glasses of wine.
The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Destiny Ridge Vineyard is a glass-coating opaque purple color. It sports a brooding bouquet of cigar box, Asian spices, olives, violets, and a confiture of black fruits. Dense and mouth-coating, this rich, already complex, opulent Cabernet will reward 4-5 years of cellaring and will effortlessly see its 20th birthday.
Our wine club is a bit different from most. We do twice a year wine pickups, but rather than the winery choosing wines for you, you get to choose any of the wines off our entire wine list. 3 bottles twice a year gets you a discount of 10% on all the wines you purchase in the year. 6 bottles twice a year gets you a discount of 15% on all the wines you purchase in the year.
The South Sound Wine Trail stretches through Lacey, Olympia, and Shelton and along with Madsen Family Cellars includes six other award-winning wineries. Each stop on the trail offers a unique experience and a variety of wonderful hand crafted wines. At many of the stops you will be able to meet the winemakers to gain unique insight into the wines and the methods used to produce them.

Just went here and found the wines to be absolutely wonderful. The price for a tasting is a steal at $9 for 6 wines!! Very knowledgeable and friendly. My wife and I will definitely be back! Also impressed that they are pouring 10’s, 11’s, 12’s, and 13’s. Went to California and we were getting 2016 and newer and paying $40/person. If you like wine this place is a must see.

Great place, we went during the week and the guy there really knew his stuff. He was a little cocky but I learned more from him about wine in the 20 minutes I was there than from any other wine seller. He got my husband and I something we really enjoy and next time we are in the area we will have to stop by again.

They were a nice little shop they were very tucked away in an industrial complex. They had a nice outdoors with plenty of flowers so that you can enjoy your wine, but everything they had was everything I did not drink. Even the port tasted too young it should have been in the bottle for a few more years before being poured.

This was fun and they make good wines. There isn't much ambience, but their knowledge and friendliness make up for it. There's no fee to taste if you buy wine.

Nice little spot. Great place in the south sound to get some good wines. Grapes are all from the eastern Washington AVAs and are very tasty. The wines were all good with the Barbera and the Red Mt Cab being our favorites. Friendly and laid back service.

What a great experience!!! This is a destination for anyone that enjoys great wines. This winemaker knows how to make big Washington reds. He is dedicated to providing the best wine tasting experience available and his wines back him up. Not to brag only about the reds, he has out done himself with a clever blend of three Muscat grape blend (Three Musketeers) fermented all the way dry; big fruity nose, with a wonderful dry finish, an innovative approach with an awesome result. Truly a wine lovers winemaker!

Fantastic Cab Franc and Cab Sauv(all their wines are great but these are our favorites) - but more for the Hospitality, Humor and Personality that Dana and family add to the experience. Thank you for being a regular participant and competitor at the Mt Rainier Wine Festival. -- Luke & Tanna
