Taekwondo in Action's Taekwondo classes in Centreville are designed to impart valuable life skills to our young students. While the programs promote physical fitness and self-defense, they also foster a greater appreciation for mental awareness and self-control. Our overarching goal is to build our students' self-esteem.
Gumdo is a Korean sword art which draws from battlefield tactics and techniques to build a curriculum for mental, physical and spiritual development. Students learn forms, step drills, sitting & standing meditation and cutting (paper, fruit, & straw).This is a non-contact martial art that is fast paced for good workout but is low impact, which makes it suitable for many age groups.
The Centreville/Fairfax after school program at T.I.A. is filled with productive yet fun activities, so your children will constantly be doing something here at our school. We want to provide a good atmosphere for your children to thrive in. There is nothing more important to us than the safety of your children and the self confidence we can help nurture to them.

I picked this place because they were good at communicating with me, conveniently located, had Saturday classes, and were reasonably priced. My son really enjoys his lessons. A number of young men teach there, and they seem to be excellent role models.
Taekwondo is steeped in Korean tradition, so it made me happy to see the teachers seem to be mostly Korean and that they learn a few Korean words and salute the Korean flag. We are not Korean, but I feel it's important when learning another culture's art to pay respect to that culture.

My son has been attending TIA for about 2 years now and we love them - their staff are courteous, kind, and professional, and they really work with students and families to help them grow and learn. Their after-school and summer camp programs are also great, and their prices are fair.

I stayed there for about 5 years and got taught with detail. The stance, the start, finish, they do it all. The teachers their help maintain the students by having a time that they do homework (30 min - 1hr) Then they allow the kids to go on the electronics for about 30 minutes each then a 1 hr break. Pretty good ratio 1/2:1 of screen time. During COVID they sanitize everything in the dojo ,the rooms, and the bathrooms. The children even get to go on field trips everyday in winter break, spring break, and summer break. Most camps don’t offer a field trip for the kids to go. Two people I recommend

I signed my son up for class, after a 2 class trial period, because one of his first grade friends was practicing at this TKD center. It is a great program for kids and he enjoys his time in class and learning a new discipline. The sensais here are caring, patient and truly enjoy their students.

Great Taekwondo studio with awesome instructors. My kids really enjoy this place. It's located next to a residential area with ample parking space inside the building. Atmosphere is great and the instructors seem to care a lot. They've got great covid protocols and they don't stuff so many kids in a class. Also, since parents can't stay to watch, they set up a Zoom session for each class so you can watch from your computer or phone. I also love that you're not tied down to a schedule. The Masters and Staff have been more than wonderful. My son has developed close friendships not only with other students but with the Masters and Staff as well.

Both my kids have been going there for 2 years now and they love it! Master Daniel has an awesome team and they dedicate their time to helping students learn discipline, honesty, confidence, friendship and Taekwondo of course! TIA is fabulous! We've been a member for about 3 years. They're great - professional, caring, a family-like atmosphere and enjoy what they are doing. They take great care of the children. The masters strive to help the kids be both physically fit and develop good character. We do the Taekwando lessons and camps. Our daughter enjoys everything she does there and makes new friends! We've recently moved to the Fairfax location (closer to home and less traffic trying to get to lessons). It is equally top-notch! 100% recommendation!
