GBC Boxes & Packaging was founded by George and Bertha Chu in 1972, and we are still family owned and operated! Prior to creating GBC, George Chu was in various positions with HOPACO (Honolulu Paper Company), starting as an account clerk, accounting/credit manager, operations manager, comptroller, and eventually general manager over the course of 27 years.
GBC started out as a Hawaiian souvenir wholesaler, serving the needs of many of the retailers in Waikiki and across the state, including the ABC stores. Over time, the product mix at GBC began to include the distribution and retailing of packaging materials, including custom printed bags, corrugated boxes, gift and clothing boxes, mailers, shopping and merchandise bags, bubble wrap, foam chips, jewelry boxes and tapes.

GBC has a great selection of bags and boxes for any occasion. It was pretty impressive the variety of stock that they had. I believe that GBC used to be in Pearlridge mall but it's now in Halawa. It's more convenient for me and you don't have to fight the mall crowd anymore.
It's a small store at first glance but if you walk in they have a lot of stuff filled wall to wall. I just came in to buy some bags for my daughter's birthday party. I didn't need anything fancy, just an average brown paper bag with nice handles. I figured I would go to GBC instead of going to

I needed some cello bags for some sugar cookies for a back-to-school event. Fisher had been out of stock for weeks and I needed something locally fast. Luckily yelp led me here and GBC saved the day (and the cookies). They have loads of sizes, both adhesive and plain, pleated and not. A whole room of boxes too.
It's tucked into the industrial park in Hālawa, so it's off the beaten path but easy to find. Parking for a few cars out front and on the side - or you could try

Wish I knew about this place before leaving the island. I needed to pack an antique fan and typewritter prior to the movers arriving. Double boxing...bubble wrap and packing peanuts. I was able to find the smaller box at another store as well as the bubble wrap however finding a larger box and one that was tall yet thin to pack the fan became a challenge. I parked down the street from their location as I didn't realize there was parking right outside their door. This store has all kinds of packing items including really fun bows/bags for presents etc. Hence why I wish I knew before hand

Located in Halawa industrial across from Crazy shirts. Not to much parking in the lot, but lots of street parking available.
They have anything you are looking for when it comes to party planning. Boxes, bags, ribbon, party decor, etc. prices are very reasonable as well!

Looking for specialty boxes for a project at work, I headed to GBC for my needs. Please note due to covid, they have limited hours, so check the times before you head there. I miss this store being in the mall, as one can always find the boxes, ribbons and packaging that they've been looking for here! Awesome store and I'll always head there for all my boxing needs!

Love this store! All of your packaging needs from boxes to bags to containers for parties or business, its all here. Came to buy baby shower drive in food containers and bought 100pcs of bento boxes plus 100pcs bowl containers for less than a $100! Total deal compared to Costco/Sams Club for us. Plus theyre locally owned! Gotta support the local businesses! Definitely will be back.

One stop shop for your shipping supply needs!!! They have lots and LOTS of corrugated boxes. In the warehouse, you will see sample sizes of corrugated boxes. Keep in mind that they may not have all sample boxes available. However they do get shipments every week. I wasn't able to find a box that I want but the staff was able to suggest another box and to make it smaller by cutting it down. I love how they find a solution instead of saying, sorry it's unavailable.
The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful.

Hidden in the back of Halawa valley, in the warehouse section...you would never know this place exists! Came here to hunt for party favor boxes, and was pretty excited. I had a pretty narrow idea of what I was looking for (small 2x2x2 white favor boxes), but after exploring around the store, I couldn't make up my mind! There are so many different colors, shapes, sizes, different combinations of types of ribbons, and fancy bags. Pretty reasonable prices, as well. More bang for your buck if you buy bulk (woah, alliteration). The store is pretty small, but it has a great selection. Also,

This place is a hidden gem. Planning my daughter first birthday and this is my one stop shop. They have bags, table cloths, party favor ect.! Pricing are good since its individual or purchase by bulk. They also have custom printing on bags as well. Their out side wear house had shipping boxes and supplies. Since it's winter season they had a lot of Christmas items for sale. Definitely will be back if I'm in need of planning a party.

Tucked away in halawa industrial is the new location for GBC boxes &a packaging. I was looking for a particular sized container with lid and remembered going to GBC before and having a vast variety to choose from. This location is very small! Not much selection. There are a lot of items that they do not carry any more. I was a little disappointed and settled for some other container since I didn't have a choice. On the bright side, Ani's is right around the corner, gonna get a custard pie ( awesome suggestion from Fran!) and some other goodies!

I've always depended on GBC when planning for parties, so when they closed the Pearl Highland location (sad), closed the Pearlridge store (sad), closed the Dillingham store (sad), opened this Halawa store (happy! and relieved).
They have plastic bags in so many different sizes, and by the bulk, perfect for party favors. I find GBC to be cheaper than Ben Franklin. I was also having trouble finding twist ties in different colors, I tried here, and sure enough, they sold it in a bulk of a 100.
This store is a quarter the size of the Dillingham store use to be, It might seem like they don
