Our philosophy at The Big Barn Preschool is that all children deserve respect, provide important contributions and are driven to learn and grow. Our expectations as the adults in a child's life and the environment they live and learn in shape who they will become. Positive learning experiences that are developed with children's differences in mind and an environment that encourages each child to develop to their fullest potential.
Research shows that children learn by doing, and they need many opportunities to explore and grow. Preschool activities that align with best practices can foster creativity, as well as promote emotional, cognitive, social, and physical development. Developmentally appropriate activities can also build self-esteem and enthusiasm for learning.
We believe children need to both learn and play. Play is what helps to encourage and develop a child's ability to socialize, interact, and cooperate with others. Younger children at The Big Barn Preschool enjoy learning while playing with the child-centered, multi-cultural, individualized and developmentally appropriate Funshine Express curriculum to help them reach their fullest potential!
For our Pre-Kindergarten Program, we use Saxon Math and Scholastic Guided Reading Programs. Unique Pedagogy Saxon Math is the only major math program on the market today that systematically distributes instruction, practice, and assessment throughout the academic year as opposed to concentrating, or massing, related concepts into a short period of time-usually within a unit or chapter.
At The Big Barn Preschool, our well-qualified and experienced child care staff have great affection, knowledge, and understanding of young children. These nurturing teachers guide the boys and girls through a comfortable environment away from home. They also assist the children in communicating successfully with others and developing a positive respect for themselves.

Our son attended Big Barn preschool for a full year between age 3-4. We moved out of state or else he would've continued with Big Barn till kindergarten, and we would've enrolled our younger daughter as well when she was old enough. Our son still talks about missing his teachers and friends from Big Barn. We enrolled our son in Pre-K and he was overly prepared and ahead, and we know his teachers Bonnie, Brian, and Sheri played a big part in that. We can't recommend them enough.

Finding this daycare was such a great thing for my 4 year old. It's SO different than your big chain daycares. It's personal, it's "small" (in a GREAT way), and the environment has a perfect balance of fun and curriculum. My son was struggling with the chaos of his previous daycare along with the constant change in staff. This has been such a welcoming change for us. Miss Sheri is a wonderful teacher! Miss Bonnie, the director wil not let you down. The rest of the staff is amazing and loved by everyone. We are happy!
