Great gym, very friendly and well run. Staff and students were engaging and welcoming. Strong talent gave me an exhausting workout.
Mats, lockers rooms, and bathrooms all very clean. Can't wait to go back when I travel to the area again.

From the first day joining Great Grappling everyone has made us feel warmly welcomed. It's a great family environment and a wonderful place to practice jujitsu. Professor Jeremy is not only a very informative, interactive and helpful coach but also a genuinely good guy with a great big personality that goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels at home. I would recommend to anyone of any age that's interest in trying jujitsu to give Great Grappling a try.

I've been training at Great Grappling for 6 years, and I cannot give it higher praise. Professor Jeremy has created a community of people that care about training and growing as martial artists--but also care about each other as people. If you are a parent looking for a way to teach your children self-confidence or self-defense, this place is must. If you are hoping to find an academy where you can learn this amazing art called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, this is the place. Come train with us!

Great Grappling is a phenomenal Jiu Jitsu facility. Not only does it have amenities such as a shower and multiple matted training rooms, but the community formed beteeen the students at this academy is next to none. Whether you’re looking to give BJJ a try for the first time, or are looking for somewhere to train while in town for work, the instructors and students at Great Grappling will provide you with a quality training experience. World class instruction, friendly faces, a fun and energized atmosphere, and a convenient location.
I'd never tried Brazilian Jiu Jitsu prior to my first class at Great Grappling. As a white belt (the introductory level), I was treated with nothing but respect, and received hands-on, expert training, both by the instructors and by fellow students.
Professor Jeremy Arel is the owner and primary instructor at Great Grappling, and from the minute your first class starts, you'll be able to tell that this man knows exactly what he is doing. He is a wealth of knowledge, and he knows exactly how to

I have been training at Great Grappling for a couple of years now. It is an amazing experience with a great sense of community. I have met many new friends here and learned a valuable skill to help protect myself. As a woman I found the ladies classes to be wonderful and are part of what got me hooked on the school. Jeremy is a great teacher and coach; his leadership and care that he puts into the students are the key reasons that my husband and I continue to train at GGBJJ. Jiu Jitsu has surprised me in so many ways and its a sport that I have come to love and can't wait for my next opportunity

Great Grappling.
The name says it all, I’m from the UK and have visited this fantastic academy a couple of times when in the USA.
Jeremy Arel is a awesome teacher and I learnt a lot really cool stuff when there, his teaching methods are very good as he breaks down every move to make sure you understand every detail.
He is always there to give advice and help you to improve, his passion is second to none.
The academy is clean and a safe environment for all students from beginner to more experienced athletes.
They have a wide range of students at all lessons and they are all friendly and welcoming

I am a purple belt and I travel 7 hours round trip once a month to train at this gym.
There are a few key components that go into making a great gym: facilities, instruction, competition, and community.
The facilities here are top notch. Huge rolling space, 2 separate mat areas, and locker rooms for men and women with showers. This is one of the cleanest facilities I've trained in.
The competion and diversity here is great. On any given night, you will find a wide variety of skill and belt rank. It is not uncommon for a class to have 40-50 members, including upwards of 3-6 black belts.

I love training at Great Grappling! I've been there for 6 years now and couldn't be happier with the instruction that my kids and I receive. The community aspect and family atmosphere makes it feel welcoming to anyone and everyone, and the variety and different levels of training partners keeps everyone challenged as well. Jeremy is a fantastic teacher with a degree in education that helps keep the instruction at this school far above what you'll find just about anywhere else.

A few years ago (before I moved to Seattle), a friend and I decided to swing by Great Grappling (from Florida) for a train-cation, and the experience was downright fantastic.

Everyone was a pleasure to talk to, drill with, and roll with. The mats are high-end, clean, and spacious. The instruction is top-notch. Professor Jeremy clearly loves jiujitsu and teaching, and both of these facts are apparent in his detail-oriented instruction and his well constructed curriculum.

I have been back several times since my initial visit (including flying back from Seattle) for both the good training and the

This is THE PLACE to train at if you are in the area! We are in town visiting family for Thanksgiving and we knew of Professor Jeremy from his YouTube channel so we decided to check it out. The jiu jitsu, facility, and atmosphere are excellent. He is extremely technical and believes "the goal of jiu jitsu is to win with the least effort possible". But what made this experience phenomenal was how cool and inviting Professor was. We will definitely be back!!

I love this place! I am visiting from Florida and my Florida trainer located this Jui Jitsu center for me to train while I was away. Although I am still very new to Jui Jitsu, Great Grappling exceeded my expectations. I did private classes and they were a great workout and their method of teaching was spot on! I highly recommend this place and anytime I am in town, Great Grappling is my go to training facility!!!!

I first came across Jeremy on the Sherdog forums, reading about his adventures in Brazil, following his dream (it is a sticky post). If you want some inside info on his background, check out http://www.insidebjj.com/2012/08/19/36-professor-carlos-machado-jeremy-arel/.

I have trained with Jeremy several times over the years. He is a great teacher and lets you do your thing, then when you mess up he corrects you. His breaking down of technique is awesome and can be found on youtube, he has a channel. Good stuff.

The atmosphere in the school is excellent, the guys are great. I have been there

Great Grappling is a wonderful place to train. Jeremy is an amazing teacher and all the students there are very helpful and are dedicated to improving your game. There are no hot heads and everyone is interested in bettering their game and building training partners. There is a focus on making sure no one gets injured and the higher belts will all work with you to learn and work on your game instead of just displaying their superiority.

Highly recommended for adults and kids, the kid program is pretty amazing.

Great Grappling is a fantastic place to learn the gentle art, and Professor Jeremy Arel is one of the best instructors in the Carolinas. He is a master of breaking things down to an easy to understand level while helping students understand the big picture, all with a sense of humor and awesome camaraderie. The facility is modern and clean, with on on-premise pro shop and pristine mat space.

Visit or full time, come by and say hello!

Jeremy Arel's attention to detail and teaching skills are second to none. He makes sure no one is left behind and explains things in a way its impossible for anyone to not learn them. The Staff and people who attend GGBJJ are some of the coolest people on the face of the earth, aside from being super helpful are incredibly nice and caring.

Jeremy is a top notch instructor with the credentials and skills to back it up. Legit black belt is all i can say.

Would recommend to anyone who is a expert or to anyone that is a beginner. One thing that separates Jeremy and his school is the fact that
