Services
O'Brien Vision Center was established in 1970 by Dr. David O'Brien in Southaven first on Highway 51 at Whitworth and shortly thereafter, in 1971, moved to Stateline Road in what is now known as DeSoto Plaza. In 1992, O'Brien Vision Center moved East on Stateline Road to Colonnade Shopping Center across from Kroger.
Dr. Michael O'Brien, referred to as Dr. Michael at the office, joined his father, Dr. David O'Brien, in practice at O'Brien Vision Center in 1993 after earning his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry (SCO). He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from University of Mississippi in 1990, also earning a minor in Spanish after studying at the University of Salamanca, Spain.
A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear lens of your eye. For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is a bit like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window. At first, stronger lighting and eyeglasses can help you deal with cataracts. But if impaired vision interferes with your usual activities, you might need cataract surgery.
Your eyes are one of the most complex organs in your body. A comprehensive eye exam to assess your visual system and eye health involves a number of different of tests. Unlike a simple vision screening, which only assesses your vision, a comprehensive eye exam includes a battery of tests in order to do a complete evaluation of the health of your eyes and your vision.
Children's eyes are important and vital for their future. Healthy eyes allow for a healthy and active upbringing. Good eyesight is essential for schoolwork, sports, art, music, and dance. At O'Brien Vision Center we tailor our eye care services to accommodate kids. Comprehensive eye care services and treatments are offered to children to possibly detect potential eye problems.

Gave them 4 stars so this review will get seen.
There were Incredibly rude and immature receptionists. They are clearly annoyed when asked any questions, they interrupted me while I was trying to tell them I was picking up my daughters glasses, to ask if I had made an appointment, then cut off again to tell me to sign in on a sheet and they started laughing when I became visibly annoyed. I told them AGAIN why I was there but they ignored me. So after I signed in, I had accidentally checked a box that said “contact pickup” and I only knew that because I heard them laughing as I went to sit

Customer service is terrible. Went in for an exam after cataract surgery. Ordered glasses, and when they arrived still had vision issues after trying on new glasses. Also noted one of the lenses had a flaw in it. They sent glasses back with a new Rx. Came back to pick up " new glasses ". Noticed the right lens had the same blemish as the previous pair. The new glasses were in fact the same pair I has returned. They then offered to order a new pair of lens that they would cut in house, so I didn't have to send the frames and lens back. They called about 10 days later and asked me

LOVED this place! The staff at the front desk were very friendly. They patiently and kindly helped me pick out my frames while also explaining my insurance coverage and price differences. I saw Dr. Jones and loved her so much. She was very thorough and helped me understand everything going on. I will definitely be coming to this clinic for all my vision needs :)

Moved to the area in 2017 and visited O'Brien Vision Center in October of 2018 for my every other year eye exam. The wait wasn't bad and never had an issue until today when I went to order more contacts. I've worn contacts for approximately 20 years without an issue. My prescription has changed only once in those 20 years; overall I have great eye health.
Today, I asked to order contacts. I waited 15 minutes after I signed in, but the tech I was waiting on didn't review the sign in log, he just went to the lady that was after me. So I went to the reception, who was not

This place was absolutely awful. If I could give a rating of zero stars, I would. Although the doctor was extremely professional and so were the other techs, the receptionist named A. was very rude and unprofessional. She argued with my mother and I for 30 minutes trying to tell us I did not have insurance and tried to get me to reschedule but in the end she was calling the wrong insurance company the entire time. She didn't even have the decency to apologize. I spent 2 hours at the optometrist when it should have been a simple 30 minute yearly eye exam. I will never return to this establishment
