Adolescence is a phase of life that is naturally permeated with developmental stress. Teens must navigate increased academic demands, biological and hormonal changes, worries about fitting in or being liked, friendship, dating, peer pressure, identity, self-esteem, and much more. They are striving for independence, but at the same time they are in need of communication and support.
For most of us, adulthood just happens. We age out of childhood and adolescence, and at some point in early adulthood are expected to be able to figure out out to manage our lives. Many mental health concerns affect all genders. The focus of women's treatment is the way in which women may experience these concerns differently. Although we realize that every person is unique, research indicates that the biological differences between men and women, as well as societal and cultural expectations, may shape and impact the way that women move through crises, engage with others, heal, and find happiness.*
Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that focuses on brainwaves. It is used to regulate brain activity, calm anxiety and hyperactivity, and improve attention, focus, and mood. Neurofeedback teaches you to quiet brainwaves associated with low performance and increase brainwaves associated with optimal function.
Dr. Grand opened her private practice in 2006 after over 10 years of work in mental health services in hospitals, agencies, schools, and outpatient settings. She was inspired to create a practice where clients would feel welcomed and respected in the process of healing, and where clinicians would be encouraged to grow and flourish professionally.
