After earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Boston University Dental School in 2004, Dr. Hiren Patel practiced in Connecticut for four years. Because he found Matthews to be a balanced place to raise a family, he made NC his home. After running a successful dental office in Charlotte for 10 years, Dr. Patel opened a second practice - First-in-Smiles Dentistry - right here in Matthews!

I went here because i had a crown come loose. I was very pleased with Dr. Patel and his staff. Everyone was personable and professional. I will return!
I returned to dr. patel as i had a tooth abscess. He is very kind and takes time to explain the options and his staff is so helpful and pleasant. I could not recommend him or his staff more highly. I feel blessed to have found him.

I had a great experience here! I’ve always dreaded going to the dentist but this was actually a great experience. I enjoyed watching tv overhead and felt very welcome by all the staff. The doctor was very gentle and went over my X-rays in depth making recommendations. Although I have to get a crown, I’m not completely dreading going back...and that is saying A LOT!

I just became a new patient at First in Smiles dentistry in Stallings at the Chestnut Arbor shopping center. I had not been to a dentist in about 3 years, but was experiencing some extreme cold sensitivity on a molar. The first visit was a cleaning, x-rays and checkup. Dr. Patel and staff were/are excellent. My problem turned out to be a cracked tooth, so I was scheduled for a crown the following week. I was amazed that Dr. Patel is able to make a permanent crown in-house, while you wait, using high tech computer modeling and digitally controlled milling. No more tooth molds using that awful dental

I cannot recommend this dentist enough. I needed a root canal and crown. Dr. Patel and his team moved at my pace, informing me of every next step before doing it, always checking my comfort level. After the procedure that night I didn’t even need a Tylenol... pair that with some of the nicest people you could hope to meet. I have found my family’s dentist!

I highly recommend First in Smiles. Being an ex-dental asst. I am very picky on chosing our dentist. Not only were First in Smiles professional but friendly and thorough. Don't think I have ever been treated so well by all the staff! The office was impeccable, was equipted in up-to-date dental equipment and in a convenient location with ample private parking. The entire staff at First-in-Smiles Dentistry were courteous and professional. My first visit with Dr. Patel was amazing. He patiently explained to me the daily care of my teeth and the different options available to address some of my dental issues. He genuinely cares and took his time talking and answering all my questions during my visit. Highly recommended!
