Edward Ray Cherry was a painting contractor who started his own business. His wife Louis Cherry was his business partner, elevating the operations side of the business.
Louis managed all the accounting and day-to-day operations while Edward managed the field and new business development. At the time they specialized in residential painting, particularly in suburban households for people getting out of military service. Edward's children - Pat and Jan Cherry - joined the family business in the early 1960s, working with their parents at the age of 22 and 24 respectively.
