Services
Scheduling a tasting is simple, but generally ask for two weeks notice (if possible!) and a couple of dates within that time frame that work for you. We'll follow up to confirm availability, reserve your appointment, and confirm your sample flavors. A non-refundable retainer of 20% to hold your date is required within two weeks of receiving an invoice.
If at all possible please order your cake for the day you intend to eat it! We want it to be delicious! That being said, cakes are available for pick up Wednesday-Saturday 10am-2pm by pre-order only. If you or your guest has an intolerance, or prefer to eat gluten-free, we will be delighted to help.
If you need a delicious and gorgeous cake, but don't want to stress about the design process, then a shop cake is for YOU. We make standard shop cake designs in any size, and you can even choose your icing colors! This gorgeous textured finish is the only among our finished that can be accomplished with Swiss buttercream, American buttercream, or (hip-hip-hooray!) cream cheese icing!
Our shop is located on at the south end of Church Street, right off of Main Street. We keep our case stocked (until everything gets snatched up, that is!) and the laughter rolling. You may wander in for sweets, but rest assured we have the perfect cards, knick-knacks, and hostess gifts to go along with the pastries ensuring that YOU are everyone's favorite house guest!
We are in love with Gateaux! We have become Friday regulars. The macarons are amazing and in such a variety of flavors. We've tried many of the pastries (the French names I do not know) and they are each and every one delicious. I charged Lindsay with creating a cake for my daughters birthday, and she went above and beyond!

Gateaux Cakes & Pastries is an amazing business run by amazing people. Gateaux's serves up delicious French bakery inspired cuisine with custom cakes and pastries. I'm blown away at the detail in some of these cakes. The quiches are fantastic and the scones are a 'must try'. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

Lindsay is an artist and a magnificent baker! Our wedding cake was gorgeous and delicious. She and I designed every detail, and she knew exactly what questions to ask to get it right. She was so supportive throughout the process, and when we had to change locations due to coronavirus, she was totally flexible. I'm so thankful to have found Gateaux! Lindsay and this cake made my day so very special!

Lindsay was incredible throughout the process of our wedding. She answered every question we had and hosted us for a free tasting where you better come hungry. I gave Lindsey creative liberty for my Daughter's 18th Birthday cake...She did not disappoint. I provided a few of my Daughters favorite colors & discussed edgy/ elegant! Not only was the cake beautiful... It was delicious!! The cake was moist & light! The multiple layers were balanced nicely with the icing,

Super cute shop with a great selection of pastries! We got a double chocolate peppermint cookie, a mocha profiterole and a lemon tart. Everything was absolutely delicious but the cookie was the best I've ever had! It was so good that my mom and I almost went back out to get another later in the day. Can't wait to go back!

Lindsay absolutely saved the day for our wedding in October. After our baker fell through, she came in with so much creativity and professionalism to put together an outstanding treat table. I still dream about the coffee/coconut cake with Bailey's filling and wish that I could have a pantry full of the Lavender/Honey macarons. It's a shame we live in Florida, but if we ever visit WNC again, we are definitely going to make a stop into her shop. Lindsay was always quick to respond to any and all of our questions. I would recommend Gateaux for any and all of your sweet treat needs.

The store is classy and very clean. The cashier was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the lavender and honey as well as the banana split macarons. They were both overly sweet and the lavender had too much lavender which made it very strong and perfume-like. We also had the red velvet cake and the white chocolate almond cupcakes. The red velvet was kind of gritty, tasted of baking soda and not enough cocoa. The white chocolate almond didn't taste of white chocolate at all but a large amount of almond extract as well as being too sweet. The icing wasn't sweet enough and was almost like

We were looking for a bakery that would do a small wedding of 50 ppl with delivery to Lake Lure. After looking at the website, we thought that this would be the perfect place to try.
