Short Street Cakes is a family-owned Cake Shop located in West Asheville, North Carolina. Our cakes are 100% natural and made from scratch, and represent the very best in the classic tradition of Southern Cakes. Olga Jimnez is from Hidalgo, Mexico, and came to the United States in 2002. She studied baking in high school and had always dreamed of owning her own bakery.
When Short Street Cakes' founder Jodi Rhoden featured Olga in her book Cake Ladies, the two became fast friends. Olga joined the team at Short Street Cakes in 2013, and quickly earned the title of Production Manager. In 2016, when Jodi was ready to pass along the spatula, Olga was the perfect Cake Lady to take the helm.

I love these little cupcakes they melt in your mouth and soft inside like a good cake. I never can enjoy because cupcakes elsewhere because the frosting is too oily and the cake part is dry. These are perfect! I hope you guys will be open on Dec. 28th at 8 AM as I need to pick up 24 cakes for my son’s 4th birthday. Cheers!

Bad experience. Ordered gluten-free cake for my brother's birthday. Sent my wife to pick it up on her way home from work. She arrives at 530p and doors closed, no one home. Hours say open til 6pm. Also. I literally just called at 513p to tell them she's on her way. Did they bother to tell me they were closing early? NOPE. Not sure if they will try to remedy the situation but I certainly won't buy from them again or recommend them to anyone.

It was a no brainer to have short street to do our wedding cakes - we have been getting cakes for every major event from them for years (and they are so thoughtful with dietary needs - vegan, nut free and gluten free!) and the cakes were the standout hit of the evening, not a bite was left on the plate. They were so amazing about communicating and just all around love the cakes!

Short Street Cakes came highly recommended to us by our elopement coordinator and I must say they exceeded all expectations! The team at Short Street Cakes were very professional and the cake ended up looking and tasting far better than cakes twice their price. The fresh flowers were added by the bakery and it went perfectly with our wedding theme. The cake was so delicious our guests went back for seconds! The true depiction of how beautiful this cakes presentation lies with the comments by our server who stated that the chefs at the Grove Park Inn who assisted in cutting our cake were very impressed

I love Short Street Cakes!! I wanted to have a mix of vegan and regular cupcakes at my wedding at the Lake Lure Inn, and they had so many wonderful options. They were also so kind and easy to communicate with -- I loved going to their cute shop for a taste test! And the cupcakes and our little cut cake were so delicious and beautiful! We got tons of compliments! We would highly recommend them to anyone!!

Best cake I have ever eaten. We got the salted caramel cake, which was our favorite, and the chocolate gateau (sp?). The salted caramel was just amazing, nice dense cake with light fluffy frosting, and somehow not too sweet. I've never had a cake this good! The gateau was a very dense brownie-like texture, and was not our favorite, just because I was expecting something different. But good for what it was, and we like trying new things. I do wish they could modernize and create a system to order online.

I ordered a cake for my engagement party recently. I sent photos over email of what I wanted, and was told to call to place the order. I called and they took my order over the phone, confirming the details of the picture I sent. It was a very simple design of little hearts all over the cake drawn with icing.
I go to pick up the day of my party and the cake looked absolutely nothing like the picture that I had emailed. It seemed like they just chose to ignore my request. I definitely won't be choosing Short Street for my wedding cake.

Short Street provided cupcakes and a cutting cake for our wedding, and we could not have been happier! We had tried their cupcakes several times, and knew they were our pick for our baker! They were easy to work with and communicative as we worked through flavors, delivery etc.
The cupcakes looked amazing, tasted even better, and our guests raved about how good they were! Absolutely recommend.
