McWhorter's Tire Co. was established in Lubbock, TX in 1942. Ross and Pat McWhorter were owners of the family owned and operated business. The original store is the current downtown location, but it used to be the show floor only. The service shop we have today was originally a 2 story parking garage built for the Hilton Hotel.
Whether your vehicle was involved in a minor collision, fender bender or simply a system component stops working, McWhorter's can be your one stop mechanic for all car, light truck and SUV repairs. All types of service are offered from radiator repair, brakes, belts & battery replacement, to front end work, electrical systems and much more!
McWhorter Tire & Auto offers many affordable options for new and current customers. As the oldest and one of the largest tire dealers and automotive repair centers in Lubbock, take advantage of exclusive specials and discounts for combining tires and service. Many of these deals are only offered at retail McWhorter locations, including our downtown, 50th, and Frankford Lubbock stores and branch in Levelland, TX.
There are several considerations to make when buying budget or cheap tires. One is understanding premium brands vs. budget brands. Premium tire brands offered at McWhorter's include Michelin, Goodyear, Firestone, Bridgestone, Pirelli and several others. Budget tire brands sold at our locations include Dunlop, Kelly, BF Goodrich, Kumho, Hankook, Dayton, General, Uniroyal, Cooper and a few additional brands that we have in inventory.
It's the first hot day of Lubbock, TX. Perhaps it's March or even as early as February. Uncomfortably shifting in your seat, you turn on the Car A/C, only to feel an unwelcome blast of warm air streaming from the vents, a bad situation made worse. Warm air blowing through the vents is the most common issue and it could mean your car A/C unit isn't working at all.

We had DEF codes showing on our Class A motorhome while driving through Lubbock. McWhorters said they would be glad to work us in their schedule. The ran the diagnostic on the unit and said it would take some time to trace the issue. They confirmed that the 3 codes for the heater lines should be fine to continue on our trip until we were somewhere that could trace the issue. All employees were great. Price was reasonable. Would recommend them and would use them again if we were in the area.

We blew a tire on our fifth wheel an hour or so outside of Lubbock. After a quick change to the spare, I called McWhorter to see if they had the type of tires we needed in stock. Cameron was very helpful! They had the tires in stock and I told him we'd be there in an hour and a half. Cameron told us they'd be ready when we go there. As soon as we pulled in, the new tires were being installed. The entire process was an hour, for a full set of tires on a fifth wheel! To say we are relieved and pleased is an understatement! Was just a slight detour on our way home from vacation. Would recommend

Needed an alignment in a hurry, and called to see if they could get me in. They said to come on down, and it wasn't long before they had it in and working on it. Tech was very knowledgeable and polite as he explained the work he needed to do. Cost was shown up front, and they stuck with that. Was in and out within about an hour. Very good service, reasonable prices. Great shop!

I have used McWhorter's on several occasions and always been impressed. Recently I was in to purchase new tires for my 3/4 ton truck. They worked hard to evaluate possible size options and get me the best tire for the money, saving hundreds of dollars on the set by widening the tire a little bit to get to a more readily available tire. They could have just gone with the size that was on there and made more money, but obviously they care about the customer and repeat business. On that note, I've had them repair flats on tires purchased elsewhere and they didn't charge. They also

My truck and trailer could be on fire. And and these people could have the only water for 500 miles and I’d just let it burn, before they (ever) get another nickel of my business. I and a one man independent owner operator and value for my buck is a big deal. They not only sold me the wrong application tire but who the parts changers was that aligned my tractor had to have been blind..stoned.. or drunk..

We were from out of town and noticed a couple of our tires were low. I knocked on their shop garage door and asked if they could fill them up. The technician promptly stopped what he was doing and took care of us. He was very friendly and I could tell he enjoyed his work. Even though I wasn't technically a customer, their customer service is top notch and worthy of a 5 star review. Thank you.

I took the car to this location I had nail in tire. I was told the job would be about an hour to an hour and a half to get the tire repaired. After a period of time, I received a call that told me, the other front tire had a gash in the side wall. I return to the tire store, and sure enough there was a slit in the side wall. I had to replace that tire. Make a long story short, the car is finished and I started to drive it home. the air pressure alarm was still on, a call to the business resulted in 15 minutes of driving should reset the alarm? The two rims that we worked on we're dirty.

These guys seem pretty nice/ professional. They were quick to work on my tire repair and thst is why I gave two stars, otherwise I would have given one. The tech damaged my black wheel in several places. When they gave me the car back, there were pain chips/ flakes everywhere around the edge of the rim and damaged several areas of the wheel. I even showed him the long thin paint shavings that were still there. His response? Well, the wheel was damaged already anyway. Lol
We all know that there would not be fresh paint chips from old damage.

The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The mechanic knew what he was doing over 40 years experience. He answered all my questions and gave me helpful tips to make the new clutch last a long time. I recommend anyone that's near the Lubbock, Texas that needs work done on their truck or just about anything else you can't go wrong coming to Mcwhorter's Truck Center.

Sad to give a one star review but some things just have to happen. Came here and was quoted an hour wait for changing one tire and getting my tires aligned. Two hours pass and they tell me my car is ready. Then they realized they forgot to align my tires. As they sent my car back I realized they changed the wrong tire. So in two hours they didn't do anything I needed and changed the wrong tire. Sad day for real. No one seems apologetic and I don't recommend using your money here

This place was great! We had been waiting for 4.5 hours on the Sears auto for a new tire and it was taking so long that we called the McWhorter Tire & Auto and they had the tire in stock and were willing to work on it immediately. We drove the car over and they had the new tire immediately sent to them (with a very short accidental detour at their other location) and then they got the tire on and it was fine! They were very nice and willing to help us which we really appreciated after having such a long wait. Would take my car here again.
