Olive Branch Family Therapy brings therapy services to individuals, couples, and families of the Triangle area, including Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, and surrounding area. The Triangle is a great place to live and work but often the fast pace of life's demands leaves us feeling unbalanced and out of focus.
At Olive Branch Family Therapy, we specialize in "Bringing Peace to Life." We offer convenient hours that include evenings and Saturdays. An excellent tool to help couples who are engaged or married is Prepare-Enrich, which provides invaluable tools. For those beginning their careers in Marriage and Family Therapy, Jim offers internships or LMFT-A supervision.

Services
Members of our military share a common bond because of the unique circumstances that they have experienced. Often they feel more comfortable sharing their experiences with a fellow veteran. There are times when clients cannot come to the office, whether because of travel commitments or family commitments.
Whether you are a couple looking to get married or a couple that has been married for many years, therapy can help build or strengthen the foundation of a relationship. Couple's Therapy is generally forty-five minutes to one hour every week or every other week. To be most effective, the couple and therapist together set specific goals.
If you are beginning your career as a Marriage and Family Therapist you will need AAMFT approved supervision to reach your goals. Jim Workman is happy to discuss various opportunities to help you on your journey. Depending on your needs and Jim's availability, internships and/or supervision may be offered.
Clergy, marriage and family therapists, social workers, chaplains, and counselors often want to give couples the gifts of awareness, understanding, and skills to assist them on a path to a healthy, life-long relationship. Prepare-Enrich is a wonderful program that provides insights and tools to help partners understand themselves and each other.
Jim's approach to family therapy is a culmination of his life's work with people in a variety of settings. His philosophy of therapy grows out of his many years as a pastoral care giver to persons of various faiths. Jim's vision of therapy is to "work with people in relationship to help them make sense out of the chaos of life."

Obviously, therapy is extremely personal, so I won't share too much, but I just really wanted to say that Lauren helped me get through some real darkness. She is a great listener and I never felt "judged". She wanted to make sure she understood what I was trying to say and also tried to help me see things in a new way. I didn't feel rushed (no sudden "well, our time is up! get out!"), and she was as accommodating as possible for scheduling appointments. Highly recommend.

My wife and I have been working with Jim for a handful of years now. He has been great, very personable and accommodating with his time. He has been extremely professional, and his knowledge of Cognitive Based Therapy practices has been extremely helpful. I would highly recommend Jim and his practice.

When we first found out my husband was approaching renal failure and we'd be dealing with dialysis and transplant, we knew it would be helpful to find a therapist to help us navigate and cope. Jim was an absolute answer to prayer -- knowledgeable, personable, insightful. I'll always be appreciative of how he helped guide us through.
Then after we'd made it through my husband's transplant, I began struggling with the repercussions of long-term caregiver burnout. I'd just started my own journey to recovery when COVID-19 hit. Fortunately Jim was able to offer tele-therapy so that I wouldn't stall

Working with Mychal reshaped my marriage and saved us when we were on the brink of divorce. Mychal has such a calm and caring demeanor that made opening up and being honest so easy - for both me and my husband. During our sessions we learned to slow down arguments that normally would have steamrolled our day and address the specific issue that was causing the disagreement. Mychal helped us learn to communicate effectively and understand that improving a relationship takes continual effort and renewed commitment in difficult situations. The tools that Mychal equipped us with have made an enormous
