Green Fields Nursery began as a small grower of unique plants in the neighborhood of Mount Washington in 1923. August Dubbert shared his cuttings and knowledge of plants with his neighbors and friends. In the early 1940's, land became available at the corner of Falls Road and Northern Parkway. Mr. Dubbert purchased this prime piece of land from the city and established Dubbert's Green Fields Nursery as a retail florist and plant nursery.
The business grew and developed a reputation for unique plant stock. In fact, August Dubbert popularized Aucuba japonica 'Variegata', a cultivar originally deemed not hardy in the area. The business was passed on to his knowledgeable son, Louis Dubbert. Green Fields continued to grow under Lou's guidance and launched a successful residential and commercial landscape business.

I finally got around to checking out @greenfieldsnursery When walking in I was immediately amazed at all the #houseplants they carry. I did go looking for a string of hearts but they currently were out of… stock. But on good note I was able to pick up this beautiful #calatheawhitestar 😊 I am definitely going to be making a trip back. They had everything from Hoyas, Micians, string of turtles, cactus, they even had a philodendron pink princess for less than 300 for a full plant. #plantmom #localnursery #plantshopping #houseplantsofinstagram #houseplantcommunity #crazyplantlady #plantsmakepeoplehappy

Usually a very great experience when I visit. Today was very abnormal; you could tell the cashier was new and very overwhelmed by the minimal amount of pardons in the store; called for back up to help with 2 customers. Very rude when asked about prices, and to double check prices for me as if every question I was asking bothered her. Store was… very Cluttered as well as the greenhouse; creating a very unsafe atmosphere; you could barely walk without hitting plants; all the while workers are walking by and knocking into huge Fig, monstera, and even beautiful regal leaves... poor plants! Most
