Afraid of needles? No problem! Research shows that allergy drops are a safe, effective method to treat environmental allergies in the comfort of your home. Dr. Dauby was the first board certified allergist in Western Pennsylvania to offer allergy drops (sublingual immunotherapy) for the treatment of environmental allergies.
Research reveals that quality of life in children with food allergies significantly worsens as the child ages. This includes emotional, dietary, and social aspects of life.* Food oral immunotherapy (OIT) is a process which retrains the immune system to tolerate food proteins that an individual is allergic to.
Sublingual immunotherapy (allergy drops) for foods, also known as SLIT, is a treatment for children and adults to safely build tolerance in case an accidental exposure to allergens occurs. For some, it may help them eat the food normally without any reaction. Allergy drops are administered by placing food extract drops under the tongue.
New patient appointments generally include a thorough medical history, examination, and testing. Generally, an evaluation takes between 1-3 hours. The time and cost of the visit will vary based on your symptoms and testing. At any time during the visit, feel free to ask questions if there is something that you do not understand.
An oral challenge is a medically supervised procedure during which food is eaten in gradually increasing amounts. The purpose of a food challenge is to identify if a person can safely consume a food. A food challenge typically takes about 4 hours. We will begin by giving you a small amount of the suspected food, and gradually increase the amount consumed every 15-30 minutes until a normal sized serving has been consumed.

Was very impressed at first visit. Office staff provided excellent service. Very transparent regarding billing procedures. Dr. Dauby was very straightforward and answered my questions thoroughly. Testing was efficient and my action plan made perfect sense. Patient portal provides convenience with signing in and filling out new patient info. Patient portal provided check-in ease.

One of my worse experience at a doctor office. I’m immediate need to see an allergist, made a day appt to be seen.
Once at the doctor office, she asked for my insurance information, handed her the card.
She refused to let me see a doctor because their systems show health care insurance
Coverage with several companies and knowing that I have severe allergies.

Dr. Dauby and his staff have done what 3 other allergist couldn't for my severely food allergic daughter- they desensitized her! She can now eat unlimited amounts of the foods that once caused reactions in minuscule amounts. The staff are always accessible and caring. They are creating safety for even the most sensitive of food allergic people. I could not give any higher recommendation!

So far we’ve had an amazing experience. My family has gone from being petrified of peanuts and treenuts to eating both daily. After less than a year we have nearly graduated from the program. Dr. Dauby and the staff have been an amazing support and have also helped to educate me and my 8 yr old along the way. The idea of eating a food that we’ve been told to avoid for so long was terrifying but the process is slow and very safe. I love the staff and Dr Dauby! My prescriptions use to include eye drops, nose spray, and pills to control my allergies and it wasn’t sustainable or even completely effective. I am on my 4th year of shots and only take 1 antihistamine an hour before my monthly shot as a precaution and I haven’t had to take any other medication for the past 2 years. Life changing experience. Results highly outweigh the weekly then monthly trips to the office for the shots.

There are not enough stars to say how happy we are with our experience at Dr. Dauby's office. My son started OIT therapy for peanuts in December. After years of researching options, we selected Dr. Dauby based on all the positive feedback I received from other parents - and he has still exceeded our expectations. He is highly knowledgeable, extremely thorough, patient and kind. Appointments are never rushed, and he makes my nervous son feel comfortable and confident about the process.
