We are a family owned and operated restaurant, serving homemade food for 19 years in the same location. We are open from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Breakfast and lunch are served all day long. We offer off site catering for almost any size group and any occasion.

The name Whistle Stop fits with our wonderful town, Boone is home to the Union Pacific Railroad and the Boone Scenic Valley Railroad. Boone is in central Iowa, 15 minutes west of Ames ( Home of Iowa State University) and approximately 40 minutes north from the state capitol of Des Moines.

Very small place but excellent food. Had one of their specials. 2 eggs, fried potatoes, ham pancakes and English muffin. Closes early like 1pm so get there early. Closed Sunday's.

The Whistle Stop has fair prices and some of the best breakfast food in the area. The biscuits and gravy were hot and our coffee was always topped off right away. Great service and atmosphere.

If your headed to the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad | James H. Andrew Railroad Museum this is a great place to grab a tasty bite to eat and treat before your train ride. Friendly and clean!

My family of 6 came in today exactly at 12 PM, wow it got packed fast! It was my 1st time there but it definitely will not be the last! Our waitress (Don't know her name) young girl with tattoos, piercings and the best customer service we have had in a very long time. She was incredibly attentive, added extra whipped cream to my sons hot cocoa. The food was great, the vibe was great and our waitress was amazing! Before we left we saw her helping an elderly gentleman to his seat very patiently while checking the room to see if she needed to get anyone anything.

If you love Mom & Pop diners, this is a must do! John is a really nice guy and all the waitresses know what they are doing and are really friendly too! Here's a place everybody knows your name and learn what your usual dish is pretty quickly. Only downside is when they're closed. Highly recommend!!

I took my family here the food was hot fantastic and the staff is amazingly kind. First time for us we will definitely return again. Oh and the service was super fast too and the place was packed. Thanks to you all and your crew too notch!!!

Cool little cafe that has an old school look and feel. Service was fast and accurate. Price I thought were reasonable. The facility was clean. Parking can be a chore if it’s busy. Nice stop and I’ll swing back when I am back in the area.

Great cozy small town cafe. The pancakes are huge, but perfectly cooked (not burnt or gooey). The portions are great sizes and the staff is always friendly. The free To-go cups are a definite plus.
Ignore the crabby people's reviews, this place is the best
