One of my favorite spots in downtown SLO. Got a great assortment of plants, home decor, unique clothing, and jewelry. It's a little pricey, but everything is good quality and everything I've ever bought from Blackwater has lasted for ages. Definitely one of my go-to spots when I need a gift for someone.

Erica (owner?!) was super rude, couldnt be bothered, made me feel as if i shouldve had to pay a cover just to get in. People like me keep stores like this in business and honey it might be time to change your hobby. Clothes are grossly overpriced. They could be cute but seriously resemble tj maxes clearance rack. hey, i love tj max but dont call yourself blackwater if your just collecting dust before you ship out to tj max. Oh my god, I love this place and spend way too much money here. They are enabling my plant addiction, and I low key resent them for it (I kid, I kid). This is an excellent place to shop for gifts as well as plants, home decor, jewelry, clothing, books, and other fun stuff. Everything is unique, of high quality, and thoughtfully curated. I also love that it's a mom and daughter who owns it. Shop local and keep our small businesses running!

FYI your so called Black Friday promotion: spend $100 get a gift bag with goods worth $200 is a joke! My gift bag had 3 books of matches, a bottle opener and a wallet. That's it!! That does not even add up to $50 let alone $200. Your store is false advertising. I will never shop there again. What a scam!

Blackwater is a wonderful, locally-owned boutique right in downtown. Their clothes are completely on-trend and ever-changing with the styles of today. Their outfits bring a bit of flair to the laid-back surfer, cowboy fashion that is the Central Coast. They can be a bit pricey, however everything you buy here will be a good quality item that will surely get you a slew of compliments every time you wear it.

Grossly overpriced, poorly made/styled clothing and plants (you can buy the exact plants for 1/3 the price at Home Depot) presented with terrible attitude. How this place stays in business is beyond me. One can only assume they've survived based solely on the fact most of their clientele are tourists who only visit once, or those locals who wouldn't know quality and style if it bit them in their collective snobby backsides. I won't waste another dime in this establishment.

I have been shopping at black water since it was H&G years ago. Every year it evolves and continues to bring very unique and in style clothes and home decor to SLO. It is the only boutique I go to downtown! I shop for myself here, and they have so many precious small things perfect for gifting. Their employees are warm, helpful, personable, and professional. I see them around town and they greet me kindly and make me happy to be part of the community.

After speaking to Erica the owner, she handled everything and responded swiftly. I'm grateful and appreciative of her! She gave amazing customer service and showed she cares about the customers who come here! She's amazing! After calming down, I would give this store another go. My plant may have been a fluke because she buys the plants from the same person, and they've sold dozens of the club moss and haven't seen this happen!

I don't frequently write reviews but Blackwater is an essential part of downtown SLO. I've shopped with Blackwater since it was H&G. Love to see local businesses thrive and engage with our local community. Blackwater not only had the best clothes/plants/home goods in downtown SLO but they practice what they preach and give back.

Blackwater raises the bar for locally-owned boutiques with carefully curated labels and a price range that makes shopping accessible to anyone who enters. Location is clean, bright, and well-styled, and the employees are the best combination: knowledgable, but not overbearing. A great stop for locals as well as anyone visiting downtown San Luis Obispo.

Super friendly staff! One lady took a lot of time with me while I tried on different pieces of jewelry. I ended up purchusing a beautiful and affordable piece. I wear it everyday now and get compliments everywhere I go. I also loved the air plants and sage spray! Super fun shop, I looking forward to shopping here again.
