The town of Davidson, NC came into being when Davidson College was founded in 1837. The college was originally the town's government until the town incorporated as Davidson College in 1879. Then, in 1891, the town changed its name to Davidson. Although many of the towns in the Lake Norman area have significantly grown in size and population Davidson has proudly managed to remain relatively small and keep its small town atmosphere.
Huntersville, located between Charlotte and Lake Norman, attracts those that want to be close to both Charlotte and the lake. Huntersville is home to Birkdale Village, one of the area's most popular attractions, which offers some of the best shopping and dining around.
