Express Bike Shop
We're a full-service bike shop specializing in refurbished bicycles and a nonprofit youth employment program - all rolled into one!. Express Bike Shop continues to prioritize the health and safety of all of our customers, staff, and youth apprentices. We have hundreds of quality refurbished bikes for sale and our inventory can now be viewed online!.

As a youth apprentice, teens learn and help operate all areas of the shop. For most, it's their first real job and helps them build key entrepreneurial and work skills needed for future success. We thrive, in large part, because of the generosity of our supporters. Bicycle donations are needed to provide the inventory for us to refurbish and sell and financial contributions are needed to help support Youth Apprenticeship program.
Services
Our skilled mechanics are committed to making your repair experience simple and satisfying. We take on all repair projects - large and small - and specialize in getting your bike back on the road at an affordable price.

A detailed inspection of your bike for any wear and tear, truing of the wheels, adjustment of brakes and derailleurs, adjustment of all points of rotation (Hubs of wheels, headset, and bottom bracket), full lubrication of chain and cables, inflation of tires to proper pressure, and a light cleaning of the bike to finish it off.
We have a large and diverse selection of bikes for sale - everything from the high-end, to the unique, to the cheap - all prepared with the same tender, loving care of our staff. Our selection is always changing and with a range of prices to fit your budget. Plus, every dollar spent at Express Bike Shop will help young people in our community succeed through our Bicycle Apprentice Training.
Working side-by-side with experienced mechanics, all of our youth apprentices complete an intense Bicycle Repair Certification process. Apprentices are thoroughly schooled in the daily shop responsibilities including customer service, ordering and stocking items in the retail area, preparing bank deposits and paying the bills.

So I found a great bike here. However after only a month of having it, I was on a trail with my 3 year old. We stopped for a break and he accidentally knocked the bike over. It fell over on a dirt trail and the frame bent. I don’t know all about bike repair but when I took it in, the guy said it was toast. I did an ugly cry and I had to buy another frame for another $80. I’m torn. I like the shop and what it stands for but I felt like I got a lemon. A bike shouldn’t get ruined after falling over on a dirt trail but maybe I don’t know anything about bikes.

Highly recommend this business. While I was in St Paul riding my front wheel bent and was barely drivable. I called multiple shops and all said they couldn’t help same day. I called this business and they told me to bring the bike in, so I did. The bike mechanic was very helpful and fixed it promptly. Overall very good experience and I’m glad I found them.

Had a great experience with John at Express Bike Shop! Couldn't be happier with the bike he helped me pick out. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a used bike.

We have purchased two bikes, some accessories and have had tune ups for several bikes over the past couple of years. Every experience has been wonderful. Staff is helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The refurbished bikes have been perfect for our kids, and at a very reasonable price. The fixes they have proposed have been faster and less expensive than promised every time. We cannot say enough good things.

Very patient, helpful, and knowledgeable staff! And wildly affordable pricing. Supporting their youth employment program makes it even more appealing to patronize this shop.

Folks seemed nice enough but wouldn't help fix my bike. Said parts couldn't be found but I found multiple sources for everything needed. Then the bike was too unsafe to fix. Then it was liability concerns....
Bad experience, won't go back, but I don't know that my experience is typical. I think if you bring them a huffy or whatever you'll be fine and like I said the folks seemed quite nice.
Wanted to give this local business my money but *shrug*.
Side note - there is no implied liability for ANYTHING that leaves the sight of the shop. It's impossible. Don't know if people these days are paranoid

This is a great bike shop but they are losing their way. Impossible to get into the store. Appointments are two weeks out of more. And the staff is more that willing to make excuses and blame everything but poor management for their terrible customer service.
All I wanted is to buy a used bike for my 15-year-old granddaughter. How hard can that be!! They have lost my good will. Frustrating.

Great place to purchase a used bike in great working condition. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Purchased 2 bikes this summer. They were really accommodating to help you get the bike that fits you well and is what you are looking for. On one bike they let us switch to a softer seat. Another bike I upgraded the pedals. Both bikes we had water bottle holders attached. Each bike was around the $300 range.

An overall excellent experience buying a used bike. Better than I've had at new bike retailers. They really care about you, and the bikes, and it shows. There was no pitchiness or up selling, just listening, giving advice, and making sure you're getting what's right for you.

Great service. Friendly and helpful. I got a sweet vintage mountain bike at a reasonable price. I was really surprised at how nice it rode. They really had it dialed in. Would recommend!

This place is the Real Deal.

I came into Express after a botched attempt at getting a tune-up from Now Bikes & Fitness in St. Paul - they refused to service my bikes after seeing the shape they were in. I was then sheepish to bring in my bikes (both of which had spent a winter outside) to Express, but the mechanic who helped me was nonjudgmental and friendly. He quickly assessed both my bikes and gave me a conservative estimate of the cost to repair each.

I decided to have Express combine the features of both bikes into the bike in better shape - and when it was time for me to pick up the

Got a flat tire on my way to the Science March, and luckily I was only a few blocks from Express. They had me in and out in a jiff, and picked up some spare peddles while I was there. Great service and selection for basic fix-ups!

Unwilling to help solve warranty defects and/or trouble shoot break problems and not very response to get your repairs turned around (super slow). Go to another bike shop!

My first bike purchase and I couldn't be happier! The service was incredible and my bike was created from scratch through the apprenticeship program. I love this what opportunities Express bikes brings to people in our community. Totally recommend stopping in and taking a few test spin!

A friend recommended this small bike shop and I left impressed. The guy that helped me was laid back, knowledgeable, and a good teacher. I brought my bike because the gears were not working. He addressed the need, answered tons of questions, and processed the order. On top of all that, the prices were super fair.

Had a long overdue overhaul done on my mountain bike. It's like new again and came in almost exactly at the estimated price. Dropped it off late on a Wednesday and was told it would be ready by the following Wednesday. Got a call on Monday to let me know I could pick it up. Under promise/over deliver. Will be getting all my maintenance done here from now on.

I bought a used bicycle there yesterday and it is in perfect condition. The shifting works very very well - and at a very reasonable price. I'll come back and raise rating after I've ridden it more.

Express is a non-profit social enterprise of Youth Express, a youth-serving-youth mentoring and training program in St Paul. What does this mean, you ask? It means that you can feel good about coughing up some dough to tune up that rickety old thing you've been riding around St Paul all these years.

Express reinvests 100% of its revenue back into its mission, allowing it to teach and train local youth (interns) about running a business and fixing bikes.

Express is not the place to go if you're into competitive cycling or fancy fast bikes. If you're looking for an old refurbished
