Acupuncture Therapy
Dr. Steven M. Pertes has received his training in Dry Needling through the Myopain Seminars, and is one of the only Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists (CMTPT) in Pennsylvania. Acupuncture Physical Therapy is a unique approach to treating pain, including neck and back injuries, sports injuries and stress-related diseases.

Merging traditional Chinese Acupuncture practice with evidenced-based, modern medicine technique of dry trigger point needling, Acupuncture Physical Therapy treatments is a viable means of healing, pain management and preventative care.
Services
Dr. Steven M. Pertes, Acupuncturist, has over 25 years of clinical experience in treating patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal problems. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from New York University, a Masters of Science from Tri-State College of Acupuncture, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree from Temple University.
We will evaluate the problem area in order to identify specific structures, including myofascial trigger points (contraction knots), which are frequently at the source of pain. Dry trigger point needling is then performed in order to alleviate symptoms arising from the blockage or trigger point which, after its release, encourages good "flow" throughout the body.
Acupuncture is an ancient treatment approach that is based on keeping the flow of the body's energy, called Qi, free and uninterrupted along energy paths called meridians. When an energy path is blocked, disruptions occur. Acupuncture restores the flow of energy and balance to the body so healing can occur.
Acupuncture Physical Therapy is now accepting insurance. We will contact you as soon as benefits are established. NEW for the practice! We have recently become a provider for Independence Blue Cross Blue Shield which includes many IBC plans as well as Amerihealth. This is in addition to being an in-network provider for United Health Care, Cigna, Highmark and the VA.

I first visited Steve after a car accident which awakened an old back injury. His use of trigger point therapy relieved the knots and tightness causing my headaches and lower back pain. A highly recommended way to relieve the pain without medications.
