Fast Forward Another 30 Years: This handmade carbon stunner is rolling with a custom laminated bar stem made out of a No.9 handlebar and a Calfee carbon stem. Featuring a full Campy groupset and a painted-to-match No.9 Fork for improved compliance, we're simply stoked on every detail here.

Introducing the all new Calfee Cephal: A modular mountain bike & monster gravel bike with an adjustable head tube angle, eccentric bracket, and leaf spring rear traingle.Bamboo makes for a natural material for bike building. Since we built the first modern bamboo bike in 1995, we've been amazed by the strength and the ride quality.
Services
Our Dragonfly tandem, which is available in our Road or Adventure categories, represents the best that Calfee can offer. Unmatched and unparalleled, your dream bike made just for you! Our Dragonfly tubing uses high modulus carbon fiber (66 msi) laced with Boron fiber to build the lightest possible tandem bicycle frame without sacrificing stiffness, durability and ride quality.
Traveling with your tandem can be challenging but having your personal tandem with you when you travel is a satisfying option. We've decided it was time to help design adequate choices for new and existing customers (as well as non-Calfee customers). Complete tandems with no couplers can be tricky to transport.
Please choose extension 20 for Jason. Whether you're a casual weekend rider or an experience bicycle racer, we believe every couple deciding to buy a Calfee should experience the services of a bicycle fit professional. Bike fit is a very important step in building a frame. Fit is a small price to pay for comfort and functionality.
We can offer either option. Complete tandem details are chosen between you and your sales professional during the order process. Since we have unlimited vendor options, we can personalize your tandem to best fit your needs. If you decide to just order a frame and fork, we ask that all of your parts be shipped to and assembled here at Calfee HQ.
Gnarly crash, damaged during transport, fell off your vehicle, or just riding along? Whatever the reason, let us breathe new life into your broken carbon bicycle and be confident for many more years of adventures. Most repairs are protected by a 10 year warranty. Allow 1-2 business days for a reply.

Every now and again you come across a business that treats you like a human being,
not an economic unit,
that goes out of its way to be helpful,
and the experience is such that you find yourself looking for an excuse to go back again.

Great workmanship in an awesome warehouse. Everyone who works here is super knowledgeable and helpful.

We wandered in from what looked like a back door and felt like renegades --- like, are we even supposed to be in here? But alas, that was actually the correct front entrance. Coming here was a real eye-opener on all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating carbon fiber bikes. My husband and I received a tour of every department at Calfee Design, and we were able to see how all of the components are created.

It's not as expensive as I thought to have a fix made, but the phenomenal

I was recently involved in an auto collision. My bike, a Colnago C60, was damaged when my car was rear-ended by another vehicle. I immediately knew that I wanted Calfee to do the necessary repairs. My LBS took the bike apart and shipped it Calfeeā€™s HQ in La Selva Beach. Upon its arrival the bike was inspected and Samuel, from the Business Development Team, contacted me with a repair estimate. I agreed to the work and the artisans at Calfee began to work. Having a bike repaired, especially at an out of town repair facility, can be a stressful time for a rider (separation anxiety hits big time

This is a magical bike shop! Awesome staff, weird/awesome bike projects all over, carbon everywhere, bamboo bikes, a stone throw to a beach, and a grass runway! Highly recommend the company for carbon repairs. And if you can, visit in person.

I had heard of Calfee Design several years ago and was always interested in checking it out since I live only a few miles away. I called several months ago to inquire about stopping by and was introduced to their operations manager, among other responsibilities - Rob Baird. I stopped by shortly after with a friend of mine and we landed up spending 2 hours at their fascinating facility and were given a complete and thorough tour of the entire place. Rob was sensational - he obviously loves what he does and is very good at it. He educated us on what Calfee does and how they came to be what they are

I'd give them a zero star except that's not an option. Everyone raves about their work, but my experience was/is completely different. Had a bike with a crack in the frame and wanted to get a quote and a repair. Several emails later....no response. I even called twice. Once I got a young woman on the phone who told me to email the repair address and someone would be in touch -- that never happened. I waited a few days and called back and left a vm. No response.

Maybe they're soooooo good they don't have time for any new customers. Maybe it was summer and they're

I found there customer service to be seriously lacking & I have very little confidence that they know what they are talking about! Initially they asked to remove some paint because the top tube sounded "dead." which they were very surprised by (frame was in for a stay repair). After concluding that 3 tubes were damaged & needed replacing they suddenly stated that most or all bikes from this manufacturer had these sort of stress cracks in the tubes (so why were they initially baffled by the "dead top tube?) Why wouldn't they state the warning before even accepting the

I have a Cervelo R5 that had the front derailleur hanger cracked which required a wrap of the seat post, a rebuilt hanger, with new paint...A buddy of mine recommended Calfee, THANK YOU!

Nancy Fernandez is the ultimate in customer service! The bike came back looking brand new! No way to tell there's any repair! The price was right!!! A new frame of this caliber is thousands, the repair cost me nothing compared to a new frame! I had my bike back in 3 weeks

I would highly recommend Calfee!

I've always been a huge fan of Calfee's carbon repairs as well as their bamboo work, so I didn't think twice about where to send it when I cracked the seat tube of my Giant TCR. After sending in photos and a description of the damage, Nancy was quick to respond with a rough estimate. I requested to drop it off instead of shipping it, so she encouraged me to drop by during their business hours. After handing my frame off to Nancy, she informed me that they would contact me with a firm estimate. I didn't bother getting the damaged area repainted, so the repair cost was quite reasonable

2012 Specialized S-Works that was in a minor accident that caused it to crack. I got a quote from the repair manager within 48 hours after I shipped my frame from Michigan. (Took 3 days to get there. UPS). I agreed to the price they quoted me and I put a 50% down on my credit card.
This was at the beginning of the riding season so their lead times were about 3-5 weeks out. (I work at a bike shop so I know how this goes and I completely understand the wait times).
2 weeks later they called me with my repair all done and they asked me if I wanted my frame painted. Witch would take another 3-4 weeks

Calfee was my last resort. I had flown to California for the King Ridge GranFondo, which was to be the inaugural trip for my first custom road bike. I had commissioned the titanium frame months before from an East Coast builder and spec'ed S&S couplers, internal Di2 routing, and Calfee's brilliantly integrated seatpost battery. Deadlines slipped, components shipped, and I finally received the seatpost the day before I was supposed to drive to Santa Rosa for the ride. It was the last piece I needed to configure the Di2 drivetrain, and in my gleeful haste to complete the build,

I just had Calfee repair my carbon fiber frame... the cable stop had fallen off my down tube, what is considered a small/easy repair.

The good: They did a first-rate repair job, (5 stars). I could show you the area, but you would not know it was repaired. They had to grind around the area and paint it to match--relatively easy to match the black, but still a great job.

The bad: It took 6 weeks (-1 star) and was expensive, almost $300 (another -1 star). I would be content if they were expensive or slow, but not both!!

The Ugly: The bar is pretty low for the bike industry, but the customer

Love the bikes. Craig has been making cool bikes since the Lemond days. The work he has been doing with tandems is amazing. Imagine what it is like buzzing down the road on a 17 pound tandem.

Bamboo bikes are impossibly cool ~ beautiful works of art that you can ride and that are a close competitor (surpassing in my opinion) the esteemed and prized--all carbon fiber frame bicycles (the mainstay of Calfee Design).

They are light and have (I just learned a new term from the website) "Amazing Vibration Damping" -- which for us lay folks means -- natural shock absorbing capability.

Price: KA-Ching!

But if it's between 7 bamboo bikes or 1 Prius car--I think your family, friends and Mother Nature will thank you for buying them all a Bamboo bike ~

I admit there
