Dr. Gmerek specializes in diabetic foot care, sports related injuries of the foot and foot surgery. He treats all ages of patients from children to seniors. Dr. Gmerek received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York City where he also completed his surgical and orthopedic residency.
Dawnmarie has been with The Foot Doctor since inception in 2003. She is experienced and knowledgeable in all areas of running the corporation and provides management and leadership to all staff.

Randomly selected Dr Gmerek 1st time using a foot doctor. Had a severe case of Achilles tendonitis, he made me some custom inserts and educated me re my issue, which was related to other things, and he even taught me how to tie my shoe for better support, imagine that at age 57 yo! Always something to be learned.
Claw toes may be present at birth (congenital). The condition can also develop later in life because of other disorders (acquired). Achilles tendinitis occurs when the tendon that connects the back of your leg to your heel becomes swollen and painful near the bottom of the foot. This tendon is called the Achilles tendon. It allows you to push your foot down. You use your Achilles tendon when walking, running, and jumping. There are two large muscles in the calf.

I love Dr. Gmerek. The Foot doctor!! He is great at what he does. Plus he is caring, warn and helpful. I met him when he took care of my aging uncle. I was so impressed with his compassion and caring, when I needed someone, I went to him and have not been disappointed. He knows his stuff when it comes to feet and general health. You won't be disappinted.

Normally I just seek referrals for any medical issues, but recently an ingrown toenail just kinda developed on its own and I wasn't able to (and kind of didn’t want to) go see my primary care physician due to COVID-19. I'd been hiking a lot in recent weeks since it's one of the few activities we can still do, and I think that's what brought on the ingrown nail. I probably waited longer than I should have to get treatment. Anyway, I took it upon myself to just Google ingrown toenails Rochester NY and I found Dr. Gmerek. It also helped a lot that they had a location on Jefferson Road near my work

Dr Gmerek solved what 3 orthopedic doctors couldn’t! My daughter who is a runner had to endure pain and stop running because she had an actual piece of glass deep inside her foot. We saw three other doctors who thought it was flat feet or plantar fasciitis, etc. Dr Gmerek found the glass, did her surgery and she healed fast and can finally run again! Thank you Dr Gmerek and his wonderful office manager Donnell for helping her!!

Dr. Gmerek is very thorough in his analysis of the problem and has a thoughtful and precise method to resolve the problem. Since I was to have elective surgery we were all set to go but my labs did not allow that to happen. Dr. Gemerk was the one to put off the surgery and based on his explanation I concurred with him 100%. He puts his patients first.
