Since 1992, we have cared for the pets of Auburn, CA and Placer County. With welcoming smiles and recognizable faces, we want you and your pet to feel at ease from the moment you walk through the door. As a full-service veterinary hospital, we stay ahead of new technology, continue to hone our surgical expertise, and offer the capabilities of a larger hospital, but within a comfortable, welcoming environment.
Offering a full range of prevention focused services, South Auburn Veterinary Hospital has been caring for pets in our region since 1992. All of our services combine experience with a commitment to embrace new technologies and treatment options to provide the best care for your pet. In addition to key medical services, we also offer wellness care for cats, dogs, and pocket pets.

We accept CareCredit, a great option for the financial planning of your pet's lifelong health care needs. We also participate in CareCredit's 6 month interest free plan. South Auburn has ALWAYS been there for me.
When a pet is ill or displaying symptoms of disease, we want to find the underlying cause right away. The goal of diagnostics is to get an understanding of the disease, illness, or condition so treatment can be promptly administered. In addition, many of our diagnostic offerings are conducted and overseen by a board-certified radiologist who partners with us in caring for our pet patients.
Digital radiographs have tremendous benefits. They are a fast way to review results using the highest image resolution available. They can also be electronically stored and accessed as needed, as well as easily shared with other specialists, referring veterinarians, or surgeons. When more complex conditions are encountered, digital radiographs are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist who works closely with our team.

Dr Veling and his staff are absolutely great. I have never had an issue getting my pets seen and his no nonsense attitude is exactly what I like to deal with - I'm the kind of person who would rather have a blunt truth than a gentle beating abound the bush.

I chose SAVH because they have some funny signs, but the staff has been amazing and our puppy is happy every time we go here!
Update: my dog is now a year old, recently got fixed and has been back to the office twice since then. Once to get a cone sized and once to have her sutures removed. Each and every time we pull up to their office she is ecstatic to be there! She pulls her way into the office and is happy as can be the whole time.
I really cannot recommend them enough. Especially with us not being able to go in with her, it makes me so happy that she is excited to see her favorite vet techs

This place is the worst if your dog has a need. I have a worm that she shed and they won't even look at it so they need to have to have a fecal. I've told him I have four dogs and I live on a ranch and it's very difficult for me to know which one is hers. Also I'm moving out of the state in 48 hours. They said even if I brought them the worm there's nothing they can do to help me because they have to send out a test and it won't be back in 24 hours and they won't do anything else to alleviate her discomfort. My 104 lb chicken of a dog was having a meltdown in the car before his first visit here. Dr Jamie came out, sat with my dog in the parking lot until he had calmed down. He then walked calmly into the office for treatment of an abscess caused by a foxtail. I’m thrilled that I have found a vet who truly understands frightened dogs.

South Auburn Vet has been my family's vet for approximately 20 years. Dr.Veling and his staff have phenomenally endured our love of rescuing German Shepherds - from the easiest to the most unruly and abused shepherds. They have gone above and beyond - not only assisting with our dogs' medical needs but on numerous occasions, they have shared… pointers on how we can best emotionally help these dogs blend with our existing dogs and settle in safely with our family and home. So thankful and happy for my local vet! I have been going to them for years and refer my friends and family there. My friends referred me to them! When you refer someone they send you a thank you note with a gift card, that was surprising and so nice!
They always find a way to help me get my dog seen and taken care of! Even with my busy work schedule of working 6 days a week full time. It’s a place I can trust and they never scam you into paying more than you need. If they don’t need xrays they won’t do them. I’d they don’t need to sedate your pet they won’t. I appreciate their conservative

I am so happy my mom recommended this vet they have been wonderful for us. Our large handful of a puppy has been no problem and they have taken the extra time to help us with her skin and ear issues. Took her in for her ear check and they pulled out some foxtails that would led to more problems. Good prices too. Thank you guys for all you do!

I went here as an emergency referral on a Saturday. They took us right in and treated us like a regular patient. I felt respected and that our dog was in good hands. I felt better here than at my regular vet. I walked out feeling like I went to the right place. I’m switching to this vet from my present one. My pet’s health and my piece of mind are worth it. This hospital has all you need for your furry children!! Compassion, experience & commitment to providing quality services!! Dr. Ted helped us with the passing of our lab Max 2 yrs ago & this weekend he and Dr. Jamie removed two socks from Oliver’s gut and text me on a Sunday to let us know Oliver is doing great along with a pic, putting my kids at ease knowing their furry brother is ok.. . I have taken my dog to South Auburn for various things and left every time knowing she was in great care! She has been seen by both Dr. Veling and Dr. Posthumus who were very informative about the procedures and called afterward to check up on her. Overall, the staff here is wonderful and I would recommend this Veterinary to anyone!
