The camp itself is on a heavily wooded, hilly peninsula bounded by Lower Herring Lake and Lake Michigan. Water activities take place in both lakes. There is no vehicle access to the camp; access for campers is by pontoon boat from our parking lot on the north shore. If you're a first-time camper you might be wondering "what's a typical day at camp?"
While there's no such thing as a "typical day" here, our daily schedule provides a consistent routine that helps us all make the most of our time together. After a long, cold winter, there's nothing sweeter than arriving at camp for a week (or two!) of fun, friends, and new adventures. We've missed our camp community SO much since the last time we were all together and we can't wait to welcome you back to your home away from home.

Camp Lookout is an organization that empowers young people through experiential learning. A recent research study released by the American Camp Association and done by an independent research group which surveyed over 5000 families found.
Camp Lookout is an organization that empowers young people through experiential learning. We strive to make a positive impact on each member of our community by building connections to self, others and the natural world. Our collaborative programming model fosters strong leadership skills and independence while giving participants the opportunity to create their own experience.
According to research by Sivert Glarum in this 1983 book "Our Land and Lakes", the site where Camp Lookout presently stands had its "camp" beginnings in 1917 when the land was purchased from the Stubbs family by the Rector, Church Wardens and Vestrymen of Christ's Church, Winnetka, Illinois. Robinson sold his interest to Handley who continued operation through 1954.
Camp Lookout is part of a family of programs with Camp Carvela, and Crystalaire Adventures. All three programs, which are run by the same team, share the same philosophical foundation but differ slightly in their daily approach. All three organizations focus on experiential learning in supportive communities with an emphasis on creating positive connections.
One week sessions at Camp Lookout offer arts/crafts, overnights on Lake Michigan, sports & games, drama, swimming, kayaking, hiking- all the traditional camp activities. One week sessions give the first-time campers the opportunity to "try out" camp. Two-week sessions offer the opportunity and time to participate in more involved camp programming.

Steer clear of this place. The owner's sole concern is making money and nothing else. Children's welfare and their family's will be found at the bottom of Curtis' priority list. The experience will adversely affect your child's mental health, that I can assure you. Requests for help made by a parent will go unanswered. If you love your child, (be it a camper or member of staff) do not let them come anywhere near Camp Lookout or Crystalaire. Curtis will employ staff illegally even if they do not possess the correct visa status. As a lawyer, I am utterly shocked at the lack of enforcement of regulation
