Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Albert L. Ungricht specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases, as well as cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment at his practice in Salt Lake City. Dr. Ungricht also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Utah.
As a Salt Lake Native, Dr. Jared W. Parker is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract and refractive surgery as well as the treatment of diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and glaucoma. Before joining Ungricht Parker Eye Associates, Dr. Parker held teaching appointments as a clinical instructor at the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital.
Dr. Thomas E. Gayer is a highly skilled and experienced optometrist providing comprehensive eye care services, as well as specialized treatment of ocular disease, keratoconus and difficult-to-fit contact lenses. Dr. Gayer has practiced with Ungricht Parker Eye Associates since 1993.
Dr. Gayer received Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from Indiana University, and completed residency training in Primary Care at Illinois Eye Institute, where he completed rotations in Contact Lens, General Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Retina and Urgent Care services.

Born in Salt Lake City, Dr. Craig W. VanLeeuwen is a certified optometrist who has participated in a multi-specialty eye clinic, Ungricht Parker Eye Associates, for the past 15 years. He attended the University of Utah and completed his graduate training in Los Angeles at the Southern California College of Optometry.

I was a previous patient of Dr. Gayer that I have great respect for. He recommended along with family members (wife, mother and father in law) to visit Dr. Ungricht for his knowledge of cataracts Going into my follow up visit with Dr. Ungricht I was very skeptical about cataract surgery as I have one in both eyes. I lost sight in my right eye 5 years before I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. That is when I started going to Ungritch Parker Eye Associates. They worked with me as my eyesight returned. My eyesight was extremely nearsighted (-1100 in one eye and -1300 in the other). I wore thick glasses and gas permeable contacts. Dr. Gayer checked my eyes yearly, eventually diagnosing me with cataracts. He referred me to Dr. Parker, who performed cataract surgery. He replaced the bad lenses with corrective vision lenses. My vision is spot on. No more glasses or contacts for me. What a miracle, to see clearly

I was pleasantly surprised by a recent visit. I've been going to Costco for years, but after my recent visit I'm planning to make the change permanent. I saw Dr. Van Leeuwen and he was patient and helpful figuring out which contacts would work best for my eyes, and talk through a few random questions I had including advice about Lasik/PRK as well as provide a good referral.

Like many others I have been going to Ungricht Eye Associates for years and it has gotten really hard to trust anyone else with my eyes because they always do such an incredible job.
From the moment you enter through the door, you are greeted by some of the nicest people and it just continues as you get your eye exam. I can't be one to say that I have had a bad experience with them yet and I believe I will not have a bad experience in the many years to come.

Dr. Parker was fantastic! He was very thorough in making sure I understood my cataract surgery and discussing how I wanted to correct my vision. He gave me contacts for a few days to see if monovision would be a good fit for me. And it was. When he did my first eye for long vision, I was amazed how clear it was!!! (That never happened with my previous doctor doing Lasik surgery, nor did that doctor mention monovision.) When Dr Parker did my other eye, we discussed approximately how I wanted my short vision. Perfect again! Now the trees are green and the sky is blue and everything is very sharp

In the past I've seen been to a range of optometrists including high end boutique optometrists with all the fancy toys and those that aren't considered "high end". I'm the type of person who want's the best price for the best service but I'm not opposed to pay more to get someone who's truly an expert. Dr. Parker is the best of the best (really). He treated me in the ER with a pretty major eye issue, that experience alone showed what an incredible physician he really is. Since then, I have been going to him for anything eye-related, follow up and exams, etc. I would never trust anyone else and I am beyond blessed that I was treated by him. My family and I have been going to Dr. Parker at Ungricht Parker Eye Associates for years now, and what keeps us going back is the care we get and the friendliness of every employee there . Dr. Parker is so thorough with his exams, making sure that nothing is over looked and that any eye problems we have had are taken care of. I love Ungricht Parker Eye Associates. My husband and 3 daughters all go to Dr. Parker for contacts and glasses and we are very pleased with the care he gives each time we visit. He is very patient with all my kids. He is always very helpful in trying to figure out the best price we can get for contacts and the best way we can utilize our insurance benefit.
