Matthew's Jewelers actually started out as Design Gold Ltd. in 1965 and was established by Mark's parents with a single pair of earrings. By 1994 they had won 8 De Beers Design Awards and Mark had won the prestigious DeBeers International Design Award. They designed and manufactured jewelry for stores across America.
It all started in 1965 with a single pair of earrings. Mark and his parents' designs quickly became recognized as the makers of exceptional jewelry. As word of mouth traveled, they were commissioned to design and manufacture jewelry for the finest stores across America. Inheriting his parents' gift and passion for exquisite jewelry, Mark spent many years in their Hollywood, Florida factory designing beautiful pieces of his own.

One carat equals to 0.2 grams or 200 milligrams. Carat weight is the prime factor that determines the weight of a diamond. Larger diamonds are undoubtedly costlier. Carat makes expressing diamond weight easier as compared to milligrams. Instead of giving three labels to diamonds weighing 20 milligrams, 211 milligrams and 220 milligrams, carat offers a category for fitting the diamonds in a one category, placing these diamonds in one-carat range.
