Three strangers converged: Gavin, a teacher from New Zealand looking for an opportunity in America, Tamara, a young woman from inner Detroit looking to create her life in California and James, a completely self-made business coach who created results. Through a series of fortunate events, the first store was opened in the summer of 1976 on Cannery Row, Monterey, California.
Steinbeck Jewelers was named in homage to John Steinbeck. In 1985, inspired by the friendly atmosphere of Steinbeck Jewelers, Tamara had the idea of selling lab grown and created gemstone jewelry in a fine jewelry setting and a small test store was opened adjacent to Steinbeck Jewelers. During the first weekend, it was clear the concept was a success.

Horrible customer service. Middle aged woman on duty earlier today was rude and lacked common courtesy. I didn't even bother to look around, walked right out.
Seriously, if you can't have a polite conversation or ask if someone needs help, get a new job, lady. Your sorry attitude will not sell any of that jewelry.

I've purchased several items from this store and I have loved the service and the quality of my items. I've finally decided to add a review because this last time the service was absolutely amazing and I'm sure my complete indecisiveness didn't make it easy. And in the process I have a ring that I get compliments on where ever I go. They found something truly unique and beautiful for me.

Elvia and Tania were the greatest women I have met in the jewlery business. I went to Africa and brought back some stones from Tanzania and they helped me figure out the best designs for my earings and my sisters pendant. I wanted gold and sister wanted white gold and they were very patient as there were so many choices. It took me several hours to decide and they guided me to the perfect settings. Timing turn around was much quicker than I anticipated and my sister got get birthday present on time. This is not the first time I have purchased from Tamara G and it won't be my last! Thanks

Wow, I went in here to shop for a ring and the Mexican women behind the counter was SO RUDE to me, I asked her a question the first time which was if I could try a ring on and her snobby response was "uh no we don't take those out of the case" I ignored that, but my last straw was when I asked her a price on the ring and she says "uh I'm a little busy right now."
If you aren't spending money that day you obviously are an inconvenience to them!
I guess you don't ever want my business.

My hubby and I have visited Tamara G Designs in San Diego, Monterey and Carmel. I have purchased several rings and a pendant. I love Tamara designs and the salespeople have been so nice in helping me with my purchase. Tania and Na in San Diego were extremely friendly and helped me with my selection. Please check out the stores, you will definitely find something you love.

They are super friendly when you are purchasing and give you the impression they guarantee everything but luckiky I had read these reviews a day after making our ring purchases and we both decided we needed a smaller size so when we took them back the very next morning I made sure to place both rings in a bag in my purse. The associate called her manager and the very first question they asked was if we had walked in wearing the rings! It had been less than 24 hrs since purchase and they obviously try to use the trick of you "wearing" the merchandise. Any decent jewelry store guarantees

Do NOT shop at this company. It's a total scam!
My fiance and I ordered and payed for wedding bands in mid October. We were initially told it would be about 4 weeks to get the rings and were later told it could take 8 to 10 weeks. That should have been the sign to walk away. After 7 & 1/2 weeks I called to check the status of our order and was told that the rings were never ordered and that they cut all ties with that vendor. 5 weeks until the wedding and thanks to them no rings. The sales person told us we could either order rings that were almost identical to the ones we originally

I wish I had checked Yelp before we bought here. A boutique jewelry store in Seaport Village carrying jewelry that sells for thousands of dollars did not appear to us to be a risk. But we learned only after our purchase that after you walk out of the store, you have no guarantee that even full price merchandise brought back within 30 days in original condition will be accepted for exchange.
My husband and I bought five items after spending an hour in the store with a very friendly saleswoman. One set of gold and yellow diamond stud earrings I loved, but I wasn't sure they would match my

This small store has unique jewelry in the materials used, including koa wood, titanium, tungsten, and myriad colors of sapphires. The prices are surprisingly good on some things and within expectations on gemstone items. The staff is friendly, welcoming, informative and seems to thoroughly enjoy their store.
