Banner Greenhouses
We are a second-generation, family-owned greenhouse grower. We produce CCOF certified organic vegetable and flower transplants to give your farm A Better Start in the fields. We grow all of our plants to order and generally need 6-10 weeks lead time OR shop our current availability if you can't wait that long! We produce the varieties that you select, in the quantities you need, and sow according to your target planting date.
Services
When you register as a new customer, you will be able to place your orders online immediately. Tax-exempt status may take up to 7 days to show up on your account. Orders placed within this time will be adjusted accordingly. You select your target ready date. Lead time for vegetable plugs is 10 weeks.
Below is a list of our most frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please contact us at kim.humphries@bonnieplants.com and we would be happy to help. How quickly can I get my plants? We custom grow for customer orders and generally won't have plugs available for last minute needs.
Air Services receive the least amount of handling. Less handling increases the chance that the boxes will arrive safely to their destination. Air Freight Services increases your freight cost but have the lowest risk of damage. Yes, however, Ground Services travel by truck with multiple handling points.
Banner Greenhouses maintains several pollinator gardens at our headquarters in Nebo, North Carolina. The gardens were installed in 2016 and 2018 using a mix of blooming herbs and annuals we grew on site and perennials we sourced from our neighbors at Painters Greenhouse. Plants were chosen to attract native pollinator species and selected to keep pollen and nectar available throughout the year.
Banner Greenhouses is proud of our involvement with our community on multiple levels including the public elementary schools, high schools, community colleges, and gardening organizations. We are committed to supporting our community schools with both advice and plants for use in beautification, fundraisers, exceptional students programs, and agricultural programs.

Missing the flower program already. I won't be able to start plants nearly as well myself.

I ordered a Victory Garden pack, shipped to the OBX. The price for the plants was AMAZING! And the shipping wasn’t bad. After about 3 weeks, my plants are growing amazingly! I have already harvested the lettuce once and ready to harvest again. I can’t wait to taste the tomatoes and peppers!! I will definitely buy my plants from them and have told many of my friends how amazing they are. New lifelong customer!!

I have been working for this company for over 2 1/2 years as the Customer Service Representative. In my role, I work directly with customers as they navigate placing orders for our Certified Organic transplants, and I assist the Organic growing team with the paperwork needed to carry out these orders. This organic team is lead by Lindy, who helped to conceptualize this program from the ground up. Her extensive knowledge and profound work ethic makes her the best leader Banner could have for the Organic Program. The rest of the team is comprised of individuals that share this same work ethic. I have been working at Banner for over a year now and can say with the utmost certainty that working for this company was the best decision I have ever made. When I hired for my position, I’ll admit I was a little fragile and had no idea what I had signed up for having never worked in agriculture on such a level, but with the guidance and patience of my amazing supervisor, Lindy, and wonderful coworkers, I was able to not only improve my physical strength but also my overall well-being. I never felt I had to bend to fit a mold of the perfect employee and have never been expected to just know

Banner is a hugely important resource for us and the farming community and we're lucky to live nearby! We get beautiful, organic strawberry, grafted tomato, and a few other types of seedlings from them. Making our job as farmers easier, they're great to work with and go above and beyond to get us the plants we request. Having a greenhouse ourselves where we grow many of our own seedlings, we know it's no easy task to grow in this climate. The Organic growers at Banner know their stuff and take their role in supporting farmers and the local food system seriously.

When I found this opportunity I thought I had found my place. Worked for this company for 8 months. Insurance is supposed to be “offered” after 6 months. I had to ask the OM to apply, the next day after turning in my application i was laid off on claims that I am too distracted to stay on task and that I don’t listen to anyone’s direction. I know all of the things that are being said about me are likes. My direct manager, Lindy, told me herself that my constant asking about what is the right thing to do is too much and made her “resentful” towards me( less than a month before I was

I have worked in organics here as a grower for almost three years now and I truly enjoy showing up to work every day. I did not have extensive growing experience and Lindy, the organic manager, taught me everything she knows (and is still teaching me) with patience and care. I love having a job that keeps me as physically fit and active and in the sun as this one! And growing plants, especially small organic plugs that are headed to fields all across the eastern US to be grown out for food, is especially satisfying. Hard work is required here, growing plants is a seasonal job, but we do get a break
