We view estate planning and asset protection planning as closely aligned processes. Estate planning is the process of integrating life and death planning to help clients meet their goals, and we build asset protection strategies into our estate planning process.
Whether we are protecting a family's assets as they approach retirement, or helping a business owner preserve years of asset growth for the next generation or assisting an elder client to preserve their limited assets during their final years, we are always helping the client protect their assets while living, and we are also planning how to pass their estate to their heirs.Estate planning is like wearing seat belts.

Long-term care costs are threatening to bankrupt families and loved ones. Nursing home care is so expensive, these costs can quickly devastate any retirement budget. Unexpected health events are usually very disruptive to well-planned retirement years. Many people in their 60's or 70's agonize over what the future may hold, especially if their parents needed some kind of care as they got older.
As a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners, The Bell Law Firm understands the unique needs of special needs families, and works closely with these families and individuals to help them preserve their entitlement to public benefits. An inheritance, an award or a settlement can threaten the public benefits of an individual with special needs.
What exactly is business planning? Business planning revolves around helping small business owners with their various legal needs. Oftentimes, small business owners need help with their initial business entity formation. We'll help review your best entity options, determine the best entity structure for your business, and then create the business entity with the proper authorities (state, IRS, or other groups).

Jerry helped our family get all of our estate planning documents in order and made sure that nothing was missed in the process. He took the time to make sure all assets were titled correctly, that our beneficiary information had been updated and that personal possessions such as house and cars had been updated with the county correctly. Jerry and Nicole were very thorough in their work and their price was very reasonable for all of the services provided. I would highly recommend The Bell Law Firm for their legal expertise.

My husband and I had known Jerry for many, many years when my husband passed. Jerry was there to help me get things in order and put together a living trust. This was a difficult time, with lots to do. Jerry was there for support, and to help get things moving in the right direction. He was great at asking all of the right questions to make sure everything would be covered. He would offer suggestions and examples, but he let me know that the decisions are up to me and what will work for our family. There are no wrong or right answers. Jerry makes himself available to answer questions, and Nicole

When my dad and step-mom decided to relocate to the Kansas City area to be closer to me, I was thrilled at the prospect of having extra time with my aging parents. The years flew by, and we did enjoy our time. But I quickly found myself in the role of caregiver as my step-mother’s health began to fail. What a learning experience! What an honor to be able to be there to take care of them. This journey led me down many new roads, one of which was a legal road. Oh, my parents had Last Will and Testaments in place – but that was all. No Durable Power of Attorney, no Living Will, none of the many

Jerry helped my husband and I with our Living Trust. He helped us figure out and answer tough questions when it comes to planning for our family tree with many branches as we like to call it. He was kind, professional and got to know my husband and I. We will be lifetime clients and trust him explicitly. We have referred him to many others and will continue to do so.

I was referred to Jerry Bell by another lawyer which our family had known for years. I think you are always nervous to meet with a new lawyer but we needed some solid legal advise after my father had become seriously ill. I found myself becoming his full time caretaker and very unfamiliar with what all that entailed on a legal end. From day one there was a comfort level I have never had with a lawyer before. I saw his honesty, integrity, and truly caring heart. Jerry helped me navigate not only estate planning but some very serious legal situations. Jerry was able to keep me at a peaceful level
