Monmouth Marine Engines: The Best Boat Engine Repair on The Jersey Shore
My family has been using Monmouth Marine Engines of Brielle NJ for over 40 years. They represent the finest of what a business should be. We have 6 children, 3 adopted and 3 biological. They all have grown up enjoying our boat “Dulcinea” named after Don Quixote’s love of his life. Our boat, a 1991 24ft Maxum, has been a love of our life and Monmouth Marine Engines has kept her running beautifully every year. They repowered her in 2011 and provided extensive repairs after hurricane Sandy which carried my boat several

I have used Monmouth Marine on two occasions. I was a little concerned due to the reviews however I have had amazing experiences both times and could only provide a 5 star review. Michael was very professional and scheduled the work to be done and even went out of his way to walk me through the maintenance that needs to be done which tied back to the operating manual to the T. Victor was the mechanic that worked on my Westerbeke generator both times. He is very meticulous with his work and he also went out of the way to keep the boat clean by laying out moving blankets. Victor also gave me a tutorial

Worst boat experience I have ever had, invoice dated 11/09/2018. They will give your boat back in worse condition than it was while charging thousands. Terrible communication, replacing and doing work without clearing it with me first.
- Ripped the canvas cover and said nothing.. leaving it under a tree in October. Stains still haven't been removed and I had to pay for half of the cover.
- Replaced spark plugs to only find out a season later they are shot, low use boat.
- Boat was having throttle stiffness, they replaced the cable and didn't solve the problem, that was some good due diligence

I recently used Monmouth Marine to do a pre-buy engine survey (2) engines + (1) generator. Michael was great with scheduling and Viktor was very thorough and did a great job with the survey. During the survey we found some items that needed to be addressed before I could close on the boat. Ken was awesome and definitely went above and beyond. He got the repairs scheduled the same week, ordered/rushed parts, and had his guys there working hard to get the pod repairs, among other items, complete. They really went beyond what I would have expected a company to do in regards to making this all happen

So I do not normally post reviews but this time I thought I would because of the service that I received.
I have a Westerbeke generator that is on the older side. We had a starting issue and Victor was dispatched to trouble shoot and fix the problem. After having to install a fuel pump and retro fit parts to make it work with my older model, it now starts every time.
I have used Monmouth Marine for many years and I have to say that recently they have upped their game.
On a side note, I just received a thank you note and bag in the mail with some sample products and a discount coupon which was

Ken Mika and this company do not do what they say they will do. They charge you for work that they do not perform. If you want poor work and to pay high prices for work that they do not perform this is your place.
I'm sure all the good write ups here are from inside the company because a year ago they had all horrible reviews saying what a rip off this place is.
HORRIBLE PEOPLE, SERVICE AND WORK. DO NOT USE THEM!

I own a 50' Viking Princess with Volvo Penta D-12's. I am very pleased with the help I receive from Monmouth Marine Engines. Mike Sylvester and Ken Mika are great!
I have found Volvo Penta to consistently offer excellent support at the local and corporate level. Volvo Penta and Monmouth Marine Engines are recommended to all members of Rye Yacht Club.

I usually do my own mechanical work but getting older means knees etc. don't work like they used to. A few years ago I decided to use a local tech to do some work. After numerous calls I either didn't get return calls or they didn't show up on the appointment dates. I ended up doing the work myself. This year I again needed some work. I tried a local tech again with the same results as previous year. I tried Monmouth marine. They called back as promised. Then called back at every turn. They were on time, honest, professional and did a fine job. The only time I had to make a call was to ask when

I paid $2200 for no work. I had 2 rebuilt engines to install. I was told and in writing would cost $2200. I received a call 2 parts needed to be replaced for additional $1800. I called back the next day and was informed that since I didn't give them the ok the day before to start work, I was now going to have to wait 2 weeks. This happened twice. I went to have a face to face with them and was given a laundry list written on scrap paper of other repairs they thought needed to be done. I told them, not to replace any parts and get the engines started. 1 engine was in the shop 1 still on the boat

Be careful with these guys.... quoted $150 to diag generator concern with my boat...... was told generator had salt water line on it and would have to be pulled for further inspection and repairs..... i declined to have the repairs performed by them due to their location was a little too far and they were very persistent trying to get me to leave my boat there for the winter..... few weeks later i get a bill for an additional $350...... a total of $500 to tell me the generator got wet??? was also told i would get email pics... still waiting......
