Selkirk Motel

What you would expect for a motel. The owner was fantastic and cared about her clientele and the motel itself. Room was a tiny bit cold but it is the middle of winter. Good price and clean. What we needed as a Canadian waiting for covid tests to get over the border.

My mom taught me: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything.

The staff are capable and swift, the rooms are clean and well organized, and the pricing is superb. I was treated with respect and granted requests promptly. The decor could use some improvement, but for a clean, well managed room and stay I cannot complain.

Clean, comfortable room. Very comfy bed. Microwave, fridge and coffeemaker all clean and functional. The only area not clean was the top of the AC unit - it definitely needs some attention. But t he AC itself worked great!
Lights outside the door but the curtains blocked them; it was dark and very quiet.
They were very willing to accommodate my last-minute request for a room.
Some people may be put off by the door not having either a deadbolt or chain, just a locking knob and standard key. But it felt pretty safe all the same.

Rooms are marvelous at least the updated ones. They are working on updating all. Felt safe and secure. Manager very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend. If you need to be downtown, this is the place to be...close to local hospital which is what I needed.

When traveling, my husband and I seek out these older, independent motels and have rarely been disappointed. Because they are generally owner-operated or at very least manager-occupied, the care and pride of ownership shine through. Selkirk is a clean, comfortable, cozy, cute, quaint, and quiet little inn. I appreciated the little "kitchenette," which allowed me to avoid expensive, unhealthy dining out. Our stay was more extended than usual, so we even got to know the staff a bit. They are friendly, helpful, and responsive. I'd recommend Selkirk to anyone who prefers to support local businesses

Super nice rooms. Like a mini apartment room! Was clean with fully stocked utensils for the night. Saved more money there for being able to cook my own dinner for the night instead of having to order out.

We stayed for a week, two different rooms. Both rooms were recently remodeled with new kitchens and very comfortable beds, showers and bathroom were remodeled as well. Nicely done for an older Motel. Taylor, the manager on site greeted us and was very accommodating to see that we were happy with both our rooms. I truly hope that the owners appreciate the talent they have in her. She makes a difference!
