The Swampscott Yacht Club (SYC) was founded in 1933 and is located within Swampscott's municipal Fish House, which was originally built in 1896. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It is the oldest active fish house in the United States of America and the only municipal fish house on the East Coast.
The Swampscott Yacht Club engages in service to the Swampscott community while maintaining an active and diverse membership in Swampscott, Massachusetts. SYC has year-round activities including beach cookouts, lobster/clambakes, live bands, potlucks, fishing tournaments, sailboat racing, and so much more!

Recently, Lou Gallo sat down with the Swampscott Public Library's Podcast Series to discuss Swampscott's Fish House and our early fishing industry. We learn why the Fish House was built and what is unique about it. The Club was founded with the following purpose: Yachting and social: particularly for encouraging and engaging in athletic exercises and yachting and for establishing and maintaining a place for holding meetings.
