Garnet is actually the group name for a family of gemstones that come in every color except blue. They're beautiful, durable, and most garnets are very affordable.

The combination of surface brilliance and a deep-seated glow, the luster of a good-quality pearl should be bright, not dull. Your reflection should be seen clearly on the surface of a pearl. Any pearl that looks too chalky or dull indicates low quality. Cleanliness of the pearl surface refers to the absence of disfiguring spots, bumps or cracks.
Most colored gemstones derive their beauty from their color - purples, blues, greens, yellows, oranges, reds. In certain colored gemstones color occurs naturally. Look for the karat mark, which will tell you that the piece is real gold and the percentage of pure gold it contains. Pure gold, or 24K, has a deeply warm and rich color, but it is extremely soft and easily damaged. For this reason, pieces made from pure gold take on unique stamps of individuality with wear.

The entire Bachman’s staff was incredible throughout my engagement ring search and buying process!
