From cataracts, glaucoma, corneal diseases, and retinal disorders to regular eye tests and contact lens fittings, our services run the full spectrum.
At the New Jersey Eye Center in Bergenfield NJ, we have carried out more than 50,000 eye operations and procedures since we first opened our doors in the 70s. We have your one-stop eye surgery center and we have already been for more than 40 years! Today, our team of highly educated, experienced, and qualified ophthalmologists, optometrists, and niche eye specialists continue to fulfill the total eye care needs of our clients.
Dr. James Dello Russo is an experienced optometrist at the New Jersey Eye Care Center. He believes it's really important to get to know each individual patient's concerns. He likes to sit down with you, discuss treatment options, and answer any questions. Dr. Dello Russo did his Bachelor's at Lehigh University, became a Doctor of Optometry at New England College of Optometry and did a fellowship at the New Jersey Eye Center.
Cataract Surgery often takes between 10-15 minutes and is an outpatient procedure, which means there is no over night stay, no heavy anesthesia and very little down time. Our surgeons use the latest technologies to determine what your precise eyecare needs are; and offer an array of implant options for all patients and lifestyles.
It should be noted that the cornea can also be affected by injuries. Some of these injuries can cause symptoms similar to those of corneal diseases. This is not something that can be self-diagnosed. If you experience any of the above symptoms please see an eye specialist as soon as possible. The causes of corneal diseases are varied, as too are the individual diseases or disorders themselves.

If you can find another place, please do. I went in to check for potential detached retina because I have high myopia and it was close to me.

Not only was it an unacceptably long and unexplained wait way past my appointment time, but also an unpleasant experience talking to staff after the visit.

The doctor was competent and they seem to have up to date machinery, but that should be table stakes.

Most disturbing is that the bill was unexpectedly and unreasonably high because of the numerous unrecognized items they added to the bill. I tried to understand why, but the billing department just

Most weakest eye doctor office I have met , by far they don't even care about your eyes . The receptionists including the doctor tertullien-mcdonald have a high attitude problem . When they see a Hispanic person they say they don't speak Spanish  mind you , they in the lunch room talking Spanish about every patient that comes  in and  they don't  want to speak Spanish  because their ego is to high (mind you they have a huge accent when they speak English ) so that's even funnier .When they book you via phone and they you get there they act all confused like what where when why ...Like lady

I have been a patient since 1989, and this place has gone down! Since my Dr. P, left I have seen two different doctors? Yet, know one tell you what is going on, or if the new person is an actual Dr. Then you have to deal with a receptionist with an attitude! Good bye NJ Eye.

I've been coming to this office for the past 16-18 years. Always a great experience until my last visit a few weeks ago. First I called to schedule an appointment in December and I was told the person in charge of appointments was out on break and will return my call. I never received a call back. I called in February again, and I was told my doctor had retired. He had been my doctor for ever. I went ahead an scheduled a visit. Upon my arrival I noticed the entire team was different. I went to the exam room, and the doctor who saw me asked me if this was the first time I was going to wear glasses

Really rude staff. Came in with a script for glasses. The woman insisted my son get an eye exam in which he already had performed. This is why I came in with the script 🤔. It's ok though I found a wonderful place in clifton that had no problem filling his script.

Definitely would give this place 0 stars if I could. It’s turned to the worst optical with their horrible “professionals” working at the front. Ever since this placed switched to NJ eye center and brought all their “staff” it has been nothing but headaches. They are extremely rude, provide false information and don’t have any type of consideration of patients that have been coming here 10+ years. Definitely won’t come back

This doctor is very good but price are very high for Glass , lenses and all come with my are total 560 dollars before I paid 269 with frame more ship , I wish very good luck to the new doctor and team , I will not go back my and family and friends , this is Passaic not 5 avenue in NYC , Passaic is more popular price for visite over 400 dollars ask before you do any things

The girl doctor who checked my partner was nice, had no problem with me staying during the exam. We came back for a follow up and because I'm asian, doctor Z didn't let me stay in the same room and walked away from us as fast as possible. Also told my partner that it was fine to return to work despite the corneal abrasion obscuring vision and producing discharge- along with the prescription of eye drops that have to be taken hourly how would they return to work before healing?

Do NOT buy your glasses here. Four weeks and I'm still waiting for my lenses. Twice they screwed them up and they refused to give me a refund. I'll try to dispute the credit card charge this week if they don't make it right.

Very disappointed with this office. Not only did I took a day off but after taking all my information over the phone I get here for them to tell me the dr does not take my insurance. It's not that I was the first appt and they didn't had a chance to call me.

Make sure you set aside a LOT of time for this place because even with a completely empty waiting room in the middle of a weekday (meaning a time when it's quite slow) I'm still waiting here 40 minutes after checking in.

Dr. Frank Parisi is the best eye doctor I have ever met! I had a laser procedure which went very well. He is highly professional, very experienced, a good listener and humane. In fact the eye condition I had is gone!!!

By far the most unprofessional experience I have ever had! The part that makes me laugh is that I never even stepped foot inside the practice.
Reason: I simply called to verify that they accept my insurance provider on Monday 12-17-2018 @ 3 pm. They told me to email and fax over my insurance card ( which I did) I even gave a cover letter with my contact information on it an I called them (3) times!! Yet NO 1 has contacted me back.
They make it seem like I’m asking for a favor or money. I simply do not want to waste my time if they don’t accept my insurance provider since I was referred to

From the beginning I had a lovely experience. The receptionist Nicole was professional, courteous and greeted us with a smile. The wait was short and lobby was extremely comfortable. We met with doctor and learned so much from that examination. The doctor was helpful and answered all our questions. No need to go else where.

I have been a patient here for over 5 years. I walked in to look at glasses before my next appointment And I have never had one single complaint about the staff. Facilities, or Doctors. However I had make a yelp account just to tell you all what disgusting behavior I witnessed in this building yesterday afternoon. An older woman in her 70's who I can only presume is an owner or a higher up in the company. Decided it would be a fine idea to scream belligerently at one of her employees right behind the front desk with the door open for 2-3 minutes. I listened to her scream at this poor woman

Singularly negative experience. Surgical scheduling date cancellations without notice, calls unanswered, calls not returned. I've never experienced such poor customer service in my life. There is no shortage of highly qualified Optometrists in the area. Go elsewhere.

After having my eyes examined at my opthamologist I came here to have my prescription filled.
The service was excellent as a knowledgeable and friendly person helped me choose the frame most suitable to my needs.
My glasses were ready quite quickly and I must say I am quite satisfied.

I recently had LASIK done at the Bergen Field location. Dr. Dello Russo and the entire staff were beyond excellent. I can't thank everyone enough for enabling my clearer vision. I was at a 7 & 7.5 contact prescription and was worried I would never be able to get LASIK. I can see clearer now than with my contacts or glasses. Thank you, thank you, thank you; it will never be enough! Thank you!

My mom came in for 2 operations for her cataracts, after several consultations assured her this was the best option in North Jersey. Doctor Michael Su was extremely professional and caring, and the entire staff calmed her down for what must have felt like a scary procedure. Her recovery time was very rapid after and the office reached out multiple times to check on her progress. Thank you NJEC for all your help!

I have been wearing glasses since elementary school and have been to various eye doctors before but never have I had such a negative experience. I had to wait over an hour to be seen for my appointment when I arrived early as requested. This is completely unprofessional and I will not be returning. I completely understand a slight delay but to expect people to wait this long and do so on a typical basis is unfair. It clearly shows an inability to maintain efficient booking procedures or a lack of care for patient's time.

Had scar tissue build up behind my implant.
Dr Parisi did a great job of using laser (YAG) to correct the problem.
Thought the issue would be much more serious. I was out of the office in less than 1 hour and zero recovery time.
The next day my vision was back to better than normal !!
