Services
I was born in Chicago and raised in Downers Grove, Il and received a BA in Psychology with High Honors from the University of Illinois, Circle Campus. In 1980 I married my high school sweetheart, Wayne Dettloff, and we moved to Houston, where he worked as an electrical engineer at Texas Instruments and I attended The University of Houston College of Optometry.
Regular examinations are the key to maintaining healthy eyes and comfortable vision. Many eye problems are not accompanied by blurred vision. Patients with early stages of glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration often have no symptoms. Children with vision problems frequently don't complain because they've always seen that way.
Yes, we can monitor and treat most eye diseases. Many people don't realize that optometrists treat many eye conditions including "pink eye", dry eyes, ocular allergies and glaucoma. Threshold Visual Fields- measures the sensitivity of your peripheral vision for use in glaucoma management and identification of neurological or vascular problems.
After a thorough evaluation of your visual needs and eye heath, we work with you to determine the type and brand of contact lenses that will provide optimum vision, comfort, eye health and convenience. You will be given a pair of trial lenses and complete instructions on proper lens care and handling and scheduled to return for a contact lens evaluation after you have had an opportunity to adapt to contact lens wear.
We pride ourselves in fitting you in eye wear that not only provides excellent vision and comfort but also matches your lifestyle. We will help you choose the right frame for you, whether it is the latest designer craze or a more traditional look.

We will suggest the optimal lens design for your specific visual needs and demonstrate any lens options that may be beneficial such as thinner, lighter weight materials, anti-reflective coating, polarized or photochromic lenses, etc.

I have very bad vision. I have visited countless eye doctors that have had great difficulty with determining the right prescription for me. Dr. Dettloff was the first to recommend glasses on top of my contacts to get as close to perfect vision as possible. I decided to take her advice and have been wearing the glasses/contacts combination for a while now. I noticed an immediate improvement and have better vision than I have had in years. Her ability to think outside of the box has allowed me to literally see the world better than I thought I'd ever be able to again. Seems like any Doctor can

Dr. Dettloff did a very thorough eye exam, she has excellent bedside manners. She took her time explaining and listening to any concern.

They have a very good frame selection. The staff is extremely friendly making sure that I was happy with my choice. They were very patient and did not rush me even though it was closing time.

I will definitely be recommending this practice to friends, family and co-workers.

I was in town and my glasses had its screw come loose. They were very nice and very helpful. And she refused to charge me.

Check their Google reviews. There seem to be more there at this point.
