Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy (DKCBA) was founded in 2006 by Dmitri and Jennifer Kulev, past principal dancers at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. DKCBA focuses on training dancers in the Russian Vaganova method. Under the direction and excellent training of Dmitri and Jennifer, their students soon began to receive numerous awards in various national and international dance competitions.
The Vaganova technique is taught at all levels of the school. Through this classic Russian training, DKCBA focuses on proper placement and technique in an age-appropriate manner. In addition to emphasizing movement of arms, legs and torso together in perfect harmony, the Vaganova technique instills self-discipline and the ability to focus on "learning and practice" for all dancers.
Created for the student ages 5-10, our Pre-Academy Levels feature classes in ballet, jazz and tap. Our Pre-Academy level introduces children to the beauty and grace of dance arts while infusing musicality, rhythm, flexibility, strength, and stamina in an evolving and progressive syllabus. Students who begin training in this division will be well-prepared to enter our Main Academy and will develop a lifelong appreciation of dance.

My daughter Giselle enjoys coming here. She has learned so much already in Miss. Dominique's class. She's amazing with the kids. The front desk is friendly and always there for us. Giselle has met many sweet little dancers, that are now friends. Mrs. Jennifer & her husband Dimitri are welcoming and sweet! Overall, this place is home to us! ❤️

Incredible dance studio for classical russian ballet as well as other dance genres. Both my daughter and son have been training at DKCBA for over 6 years and 4 years respectively. The instructors teach great technique and with care to the growth of each student. The ability for my younger children the perform along side of the older and advanced dancers is impressive and helps them to aspire to continue. The environment is safe and the sense of camaraderie between the dancers is really special. Bravo DKCBA!
