Kalihi-Palama Health Center (KPHC) grew out of a walk-in free clinic that opened in the basement of Kaumakapili Church in 1975. Many new Americans and their extended families start their life in Hawaii, in the Kalihi and China Town area.
Reverend Richard Wong, Auntie Anne Kanahele, Uncle Henry A'arona, and other community leaders at Kaumakapili Church acknowledged the need to provide primary health services to poor Native Hawaiians and immigrants from several Asian countries and the Pacific Islands. The community leaders opened the clinic to meet the need for primary health care services.

Never answers their phone or respond to voice-mail, called 7 times, left 7 messages. Then I decided to go there and the receptionist was very rude.
Look, if you don't like your job then why make a career out of it?
Then has the audacity to speak ill about me in her language to her coworkers (Samoan) not knowing I understand and speak it also.

I would always come here as a kid & it was good. Now days, The receptionist people don’t answer phones but when they do, they end it or send it straight to voicemail. That isn’t right to treat your patients who are in need of help. Also when you make an appointment and you’re on time , they let you know an hour late that they moved your appointment and you’re sitting there waiting and waiting & the people at the front desk doesn’t do anything to help. It be really nice if they actually cared about their job meaning care to help people but they don’t , only when it’s beneficial. It’s

No one answers the phone or returns calls after leaving a voicemail. I tried multiple times in 3 weeks and finally someone picked up. Got an appointment scheduled, got there 10min before my appointment and was told they we’re gonna a cancel one out of the two. Half the time the front desk staff is clueless with what to do. Line up wasn’t too bad but service was extremely slow because no one knows what their doing. Doctor I saw was great though but the process to get seen was painful.

Didn’t pick up their phone for 2 weeks. I don’t recommend this place because of bad service. I can’t understand why they would not pick up the phone for the main line I even called the operator and she said it’s weird. They need a supervisor to check why no one is picking up this phone number and to see why the service is not up to par.

Would love to have made an appointment, but they simply will not answer. I've left multiple voicemails with no call back. I've only gotten to get through twice and both times they answered and hung up on me. Really is frustrating as I desperately need to make an appointment for myself and my son. Being from the mainland, I'm really starting to see a trend here in Hawaii. Seems like the only way to actually get anything done or even simply get an appointment is to go in person, but this is difficult with being pregnant, no vehicle, a toddler, and low income. Customer service is NOT a priority.

Everyone here is amazing and so helpful. I instantly felt comfortable and like they really cared. People who come here have to understand that they are doing their absolute best with what they can (I’ve never had an issue but read some other reviews) Listen, pay attention to what they say and ask questions, they are here to help.

ZERO STARS....The service is really bad. I went there to ask for help and all they did was turn me to another direction and out the door I went. They not what they suppose to be. I even talked to the head lady over there and all she gave me was excuses of why they couldn't help me. They should get new staff that are honest and not just making a paycheck. If they can not help me then where's all the money going then? Funny place. Get rid of these guys.
